Default Door Lock Problems

I just did a pwr window, lock, mirror conversion in my hatch. Everything else works amazing except the locks. When I hit the lock button on the door they make the noise as if they are going to lock and than don't. Than if I shut my door stick the key in the lock and turn it to lock it does fine. But when I have to rotate the key back to remove the key the door unlocks. If I hold the inside handle and force the lock to lock it does. So I know its not the lock. I've tried nearly everything.. Only thing I could possibly see that is the issue is Im using my stock key locks which was for a non pwr setup but I don't see how that could make the difference. Does anyone have any idea?

I seriously cannot lock my car...

It sounds like your Lock Rods are binding or are being obstructed. This might be because the Inside Lock Rod for Manual Door Locks is of a slightly different shape than for Power Door Locks..

#s 15 & 31 (non-Power Locks):
http://slhondaparts.com/browse...=true
#s 17 & 34 (Power Locks):
http://slhondaparts.com/browse...=true

Take the Door Panel off and test your Locks. If they function smoothly, then that'll mean your Door Panel is smushing up against them (or another part that presses against the Rods). There are other things that could come into play, but check these generic things first.

Then come back and tell us what you drive (Year, Make, Model, Doors, Trim, Options, Mods) and the same for the donor vehicle. (Please don't make us guess from your signature... some of us have it turned off...)

Ok well I got the entire doors off of a 97 Black HX. So everything in the doors are stock, except for the door handles and the locks. The handles and locks are out of my 97 DX. I put the the HX handles back on my old DX doors which is now on the other car and they work FLAWLESSLY... And he never had any problems out of the HX door handles and he's not lying since I've been in the car and drove it as well and never had any issue w/ them.

All the testing i've done have been w/ the door panels completely off the car. So something is not being bound up that I can see.

SO in a nut shell i did a entire door swap only thing that came off of my car was the outside handle and lock for the key. Its like the key only wants to turn one way and that's torward the front of the car. So basically the car stays unlocked and only thing I can do is stick the key in turn it left and it locks but when I turn it right to make straight up and down to remove the key it unlocks..

The Blue Circles highlight some Pivoting Connectors for the Lock Rods that might be causing your problem. On my Driver's Side Door, the Crank Holder is a bit loose, and I have trouble locking my door from the Cabin. This has, in turn, caused the plastic Lock Cam to be a bit loose. I tried to reset both the Crank Holder and the plastic Lock Cam so that they didn't move around as much when they pivot, but it was only temporary relief. My Door is still fully functional, so I haven't looked too deep into it yet.

But man! This sucks. I can't think of much else other than looking into rod connections that are either too tight or too lose. Did you get a chance to notice how the HX Door Locks were working before they became yours? Just checking... I dunno...

Anyway, definitely let us know how you get past this thing. This might be something I need to do later...

if your driver actuator is a 4 wire actuator, then you may have some of the wiring backwards. did you use all the oem plugs?

Well by looking at the links you gave me the only thing that I could see that could be the issue is the peice on the back on the lock part #22-23. In one picture it looks a tad longer. But yesterday my buddy w/ the HX (which now has my doors) i pulled his door panels off and they are almost just like mine and he said its been perfect. But im going to get ahold of him later this week and take a better look at em. So I'm still kinda stumped, but found out last night that if I lock the doors manually inside than they lock. So I can still lock my doors... WOO HOOO...

But as for me using a stock harness yes I did. Everything that is in my car (pwr wise) has come out of the HX. From the harness to the door and its guts. Only thing on the doors that are off of my DX (these are all ek's by the way) is the full outside handle assembly. And when the doors were on the HX they worked flawlessly... So it has to be something w/ my lock or that peice on the back conflicting. I'm going to take a day away from it and do some researching.

Thanks guys, keep the suggestions coming...

so then basically the only problem youre having a problem with locking the door with the key from the outside right?
eks wont let you lock the door with the door open unless you hold the inside handle open. so if youve got the door open when youre hitting the button and you hear it click and click again its doing what its supposed to be doing.

as far as using the key make sure that the plastic points on the lock actuator that connect to the rods are lubricated. If they are binding it could cause that problem I suppose.

Yes I know EK's won't let you and I've stated that. The only issue is locking the door w/ the key. You know how you put your key in and turn it one way and it locks than it turns back the opposite way and you pull the key out and the door stays locked? Well when I put my key in i turn and it locks, i turn back and it unlocks...
