I had the intention of buying my buddy's brothers 93 civic coupe dx with 155k miles for 1200 bucks. its in alright condition, no major rust.

I drive it a bit and notice its leaking coolant, and the cooling system has alot of unusual pressure in it. I revved it up with the radiator cap off and coolant shot out the top.

I'm gonna get a leakdown test soon but how much is the car worth if it has a blown headgasket? any estimates?

buy the car for $1,000 cash and get a new motor. that motor is probably in bad shape all around.

 

500 bucks tops. its a 14 year old civic with a bad motor and rust.

Eye of the beholder determines price, IMO.

I paid 1k for a gutted shell because I was in need of one. Some might say too much but it was what I needed when I needed it and where i needed it to be and in my budget.

To me, that's added value.

 

I paid 1000 for my nieces 93Si 3 years ago with the same issue, 148,000 miles.

I would say yes, the hatches are worth more, if you understand...
