Default HKS SSQV HELP

Hey, so lately my BOV has sounded abit different and im not sure why. It use to be that when i would shift or whatnot it would be one fast quick chirp. Now its a longer more drawn out reverberation. Its difficult to tell in this clip but its the best i have.... any ideas?

loose or torn vac hose to the bov? or the bov could be faulty, ie torn diaphram. Try a different vac source and a new hose first.

Sounds like compressor surge. But, it does sound kind of cool in a weird way. Sorta futuristic, like a alien ship or something

now im totally lost, i think it was compressor surge because i listed to the turbo it sounds like it is under a forced spinning. I also noticed that after i shift vac. is very shakey for a second. So i took out the BOV and dismantled it. i oiled it and put it back together and now it is tighter but after it blows off or what you perfer to call it, it makes a noise that sound like a whirlwind. I cant quite capture it on video but it does it every time. I have no idea where im at now.

Sound like a hks to me. Stand outside the car and free rev the motor to see if the bov is opening. If it is then it's not compressor surge.

you may need to just loosen it up, its hard to tell because the SSQ sort of sounds like compressor surge to begin with. loosen it up and see if it changes.

the poster above had a good idea as well, rev your engine by hand while your looking at your bov, see if you can see it blowing off or not

it does open up abit becuase you can feel the air it lets out, but say you rev it up even if you rev it high it doesnt "blow off" atlest not enough to make any blow off noise

I'm sure if you rev it high enough you can built a little boost to make the bov sound. Done it to my brother's gsr turbo.

But sound like the screw is on too tight if it's only open a little bit.

hey man im having the same prob. with my hks bov normally it has a flutter sound under low boost and a hi-pitch sound at full boost and after i put a top mount and a victor x intake mani. it sounds like a sneeze comming from the turbo area, but the bov is still opening, i was told that compressure surge will only happen if your bov does not open at all and it makes a vibration on the turbo because it makes the the turbine wheel spinn the other way so im thinking that if your bov is opening at least the pressure is getting out im still researching though. ill keep my eye on this thread

^ What turbo are you running? We did it with the precision sc34 with the .63 turbine on my brother's gsr.

But as long as you know the bov is opening than I shouldn't worry about it.
