Default HELP! Need 4th gen cam shaft and crank shaft info!

Hi guys. I am a total newbie to the Honda tuning world and I need your help. There is a guy who is selling a 1992 Prelude Si. He says the car needs some engine work. The engine consists of "Engine work=cam shaft & crank shaft". Can anyone give any info on this please? How much would it cost to do at the dealers? Or if I did this with someone who was educated. Please guys any input would be nice. I am a 1st time buyer and need help!

dont buy a car that doesnt run without knowing how to fix it...for one.

2nd, what happened? camshaft and crankshaft work doesnt tell me a damn thing about what happened and what could possibly need to be replaced.

any kind of work at honda is going to be expensive. Especially if they have to tear down the engine and repair it. find yourself a local shop with a good reputation and see what they can do to help you.

i just wouldnt buy a car that didnt run unless i knew everything about it and what it would take to get it running.

depends what damage was done.

crank...first you would need new bearings. If it spun a bearing, take it to a machine shop and have them test the runout of the crank journals. If everything came out ok, do a micropolish and order new bearings.

The work needed to fix it depends on what happened.

Thanks man. I hope I do find a decent one in the Austin area. I just moved here on Tuesday from Michigan and I really need a car. A Prelude to be exact. There aren't many here. Plus i'm only 17 and my max budget is 3k. Can't really find many for that much here. There are some old ones but all of them are Auto.
How hard is it to do a tranny swap from an auto to a stick on a 3rd gen Prelude?

Don't rush buying your first car, even if your in a pickle (ie. need to take some hot biach out to the prom next Saturday night or n e thing like that)

He's selling a part's car to you for more than you would have to pay for one that runs. Just be patient and keep looking!

Like the hot biach across the bar that you know your gonna bang later that night, a prelude that your meant to be with will come find you

Yeah I think I'm just going to wait. Although, I did find a CRX and a EF Hatch. So I dunno. I'm going to check out the rex tomorrow and the EF hatch whenever the owner actually emails me back. Anyone here is Austin, Texas?
