have u guys herd of general tire exclaim uhp
are these tires good? any suggestion about these.. they seem to be very cheap and have great reviews on tirerack.com but i wanna hear what you guys have to say.
I was just reading the reviews on tirerack as well. I'm not a tire pro but I think most people are giving good ratings due to the price. In other words they are great tires for the price. I thought about getting them to but I still reply on "YOu get what you pay for". Having had two sets of Kumho SPTs im gonna opt to pay an extra $10 per tire and just go with the SPTs. I like a long lasting tire. But hey if your not an aggressive driver and want to save some money these may be the way to go.
I have never heard of them but all I can say is don't put too much faith in the 'tire reviews' on tirerack. They are just comprised of people writting a usually uneducated opinion about a tire. Your best bet is to find a comparison test usually conducted in car magazines and what not. The tire reviews on tire rack are based on a person having tried that tire and nothing else. No real comparison.
Cheers.
Cheers.
I wouldn't get the General Exclaim UHP. It's okay, but there are other tires that are a lot better for about the same money. For example, in the 205/50-15 size, here are tires all in the same general price range, and here's how I would rank them in terms of overall performance (prices per the Tire Rack):
1. Avon Tech M500 $59
2. Kumho Ecsta SPT $60
3. Yokohama AVS ES100 $77
4. (tie) Fuzion ZRi $66
4. (tie) General Exclaim UHP $62
6. (tie) Dunlop Direzza DZ101 $55
6. (tie) BFGoodrich g-Force Sport $79
As you can see, both the M500 and the SPT are less expensive and offer much better performance.

I agree.
You can find a side-by-side comparison test of the UHP against the SPT and ES100 here.

I have these tires on my DA and they are super sticky cuz they are a little bit softer than other brand tires. The tires take you where you want to go but when cornering, you tend to feel a lil buckle since the sidewall is not that stiff compared to other brands. It doesn't give you a stiff force feedback like tires with a hard sidewall.
In wet conditions, these tires are also great, I can drive safely at about 80mph with a heavy downpour and no hydroplaning at all...
All in all, they are good for daily driving and good for the price. I've heard of others that run these tires on the track and they heat up pretty good making it very sticky but they do tend to wear out faster than normal..
I'm happy with my set..

I have these on my Accord. They suck donkey *****. Yesterday I went to the track, and any launch more aggressive than feathering at 2500 rpms results in wheel hop that would make you believe the earth is coming to an end. And they're brand new with a couple thousand miles I might add. Absolutely horrible for launching. I guess the only good thing I can say about them is I've had worse in the rain... although I've never had a car with TCS before.

Well WTF did you expect from aggressive launching with a street tire.. smooth sailing? They are street tires not drag radials, did you at least do a lil burnout before launching with the UHP's?

Why would I try to heat up street tires that hard? I let the air out to about 20-25 psi. The last time I went to the track and it was this hot out, in my Integra, I could dump the clutch at 4-5k and get zero wheelhop. With BFG Touring TA wheels. BTW when I meant "aggressive" I meant slipping the clutch a little quicker than you would on the street at 2800 rpms.
