In case you didn't know, bent 8 intake valves when my timing belt broke. Head is all nice and clean. You can see my port and polish job I got a while back too.

And my newest modification, thanks to SGT.

Looks nice!!!

Are those Super Tech valves? They look like the black Nitride Super Tech valves. Are the other valves OEM? Did you go with new Ti retainers?

BTW, Chad it’s your fault that I’m not driving my Si AND you are costing me a lot of money. After reading about your mishap I decided it’s time to change a few things around with my head. I finally made the switch to Toda valve springs (should have been done from the start); going to get new valves, new Ti retainers and the PE belt should arrive soon.

Stock ITR valves These are Portflow retainers, they look very nice, even lighter than the titanium ones I had before

Sorry about making everyone get more stuff. You don't have to if you don't want to

Gonna put the new PE belt on tomorrow...now I'm just waiting for my engine mounts so I can drop it in and get my POS running.

I'm running Spec C cams, have been for over a year now

Your port job looks a lot different from mine. Obviously thye combustion chamber is different as I have a GSR head

Are the port differences just because they are different heads?

looks like ya got shafted on the P&P to me. looks awefully stock. the bottom of the intake port should b "flat" and its still the same shape it used to b bone stock. i dunno, id prolly take it to have it redone.

Nah, I got it done at a smaller shop, Canadian Cylinder head, but it was finessed by JUN Japan when they were investigating why my cam broke.

Different head porters, different philosophies, I guess.

I have one of the top hp producing 1.8 motors here so I guess it's working

If I were to do it again, I would not have had them take volume out of the head though (had L&B take out volume to achieve 12.0 instead of 12.6 which the pistons would have given). They milled out the area on top of the intake valves and below the exhaust valves in this picture.

PR3-3, came on my 99 Civic Si, same head as on an ITR, minus a few small changes.

Not trying to **** on your head jod(canuck-mx6) but to have the high polish look in your ports isn't good, because it doesn't give an even distridution of fuel through the ports. i.e., when the injectors spray, instead of breaking up evenly through out the ports, the fuel will just beed up and can cause u to possibly flood the chambers...

Nick, I originally had the walls semi smooth. When the head was sent out to JUN, they polished the intake port walls. I asked them about this, and apparently the head was done the same way as they do in their race cars.

They explained that the boundary layer will still be turbulent enough to promote proper combustion, but the flow is semi-laminar for maximum flow rate.
