Why am I overheating?
I recently started having a problem with overheating.
I'll describe what is going on and hopefully someone can tell me what is causing it.
If i turn the air conditioning on, i overheat within a matter of 10 minutes or so (depending whether i'm moving or not, sitting still it overheats fatser.)
It does NOT overheat if I just run the vent at full blast but leave the A/C off.
Thanks for your help.

No, thats not possible. The compressor will never put that much stress on the engine. It will either lock up and the belt will burn off, or it will squeel like a ****.
The reason why it doesnt overheat with the fan on is because it is blowing the heat off the heater core and dropping the coolant temp a bit. Sounds to me like the fan isnt coming on. I would check for power at the fan switch. OR possibly the coolant temp switch. I highly doubt that there is air in the system, because if there was air in the system it would overheat regardless of the fan being on or off.

like stated, check your fans. both fans should spin when the a/c button is pressed. in reality what's happening to you is reversed. usually when you hit the a/c, the car should cool down a bit b/c both fans are on.

hmm i'll have to check mine, i'm overheating a bit but I think only one of my fans comes on when I push the AC button?
