h22 Civic guys. where did you get your engine and WHICH h22 did you get?
i never realized there were so many freakin different h22 engines. which one did you get? JDM or USDM? LSD or No? is the $4500 Type S worth the money? or did you get the ones going for ~ $2500?

too much, save your money and just stick with h22. after you get the power under control then worry about more.
i got a 95 H22A (JDM) from some dude in Cali. the easiest thing to do would be to get the UDSM H22A1. the JDM isn't much different though, with the exception of some parts and some wiring. The Type S isn't worth it. $2000 more for 25-30 more hp? dumb. if your h22 doesn't come with an LSD, i'm sure the concensus among other H22/civic owners would be to make that your 1st modification.

$4500 is a lot for a Type S swap.... I've seen them for $1000 less.
Most times, it's NOT cheaper to get a US H22A since people want them for smog reasons. If you don't care about smog, then get a JDM H22A motor... it's cheaper, generally lower miles, and has higher compression (US has 10.0:1 and the JDM H22 has 10.6:1). You can always buy Type S cams for $500-$600, but you'll also want to upgrade the valve springs since the stock H22 valve springs won't be stiff enough if you plan to rev high.
If you can find a LSD tranny, then you got lucky. They're hard to come by... well, just as hard as finding a Y1 LSD or Y21 LSD tranny for the B-series. I lucked out and found my H22A "SiR-spec" motor w/LSD tranny (SiR spec because it came with the factory LSD tranny) for $2000.... had exactly 18,000 km on it (that's what the Prelude odometer said on the front clip).
Expect to pay around $2200-$3000 for a complete H22 swap.

Thanks for the info guys. So let me get this straight, i CAN'T get a USDM h22 with a factory LSD, correct? So that limits me to JDM. I'm planning to either get it from http://www.hondamotorsonline.com or http://www.jdmhondaparts.com ...both these places say they can get them with LSD. So that's like ~2800-2900 with an LSD equipped h22. What's the main difference between the USDM and the JDM engines as far as emissions go? If i run a nice cat and the proper octane, should i be fine? Or are there some kind of sensors that the USDM engine has that the JDM doesn't? Also, is the JDM LSD transmission like the ATS in the later model USDM 'Ludes?....cuz i heard that was a major PITA.
