Default First time on slicks, why does the car bog down?

I have JDM Integra Type R with the following setup:
ACT HD pressure plate
CluthNet four puck sprung clutch
Hasport 65a Engine mounts
Profab header
3" pipe through headlight with velocity stack
V-AfCII

I was running with full interior with a 250lb driver, on some 22x8x15 MT slicks.
I tried tire pressures from 12-7 psi with various rpm launches, but the car would just jump foward and die down to around 30000-4000 rpm. I tried 14 psi and lowering my vtec to 4000 rpm to catch it in vtec as soon as it dies, but this just kills my topend power. The car dies and still manages 1.993 60fts, but I believe if I get it to stop dieing down after launching I can cut a 1.8 low 60ft. The car went 13.7 @ 99mph with that 1.993 60ft. Help me understand why it bogs down after launching. Oh, I launch in redline at 8300 rpms.

you are hooking and the engine doesnt have the power to get through it. try raising the tire pressure untill it stops. when it starts spinning thats not a bad thing, i got my best 60' 1.68 spinning. i know it wasnt great, but on my setup it was ok. no anti lag, leaving at 8200 on the 2 step.

A friend of mine in another Type R with the same size slicks, on 20psi of pressure, got a best 60ft of 2.0. What was his problem?

If you are launching that high and bogging you got an issue I think.

a damn near stock engine, with all the weight and those tires is not helping you.

Your slicks are too big.

Try launching at 8500 rpm, whats your rev limiter set at? Just bounce that and launch off that if your valvetrain can handle it.

There's no issues with your car, the issuse is that you don't have enough power....Again increase your tire pressure, spray, or make a switch on your clutch to jack the timing at the line or somthing???

Def dont dump the clutch. Try to preload it and slip it out a little. I had a hard time back when I first got my turbo car.

best way I can describe it - try to do a burn out without clutch dump. Know what I mean? No dump, but hard slip in. that should help keep the rpms up (the clutch won't like too many of those if you slip too much)....and spin is not a bad thing really. Watch any of the pro cars...they spin for the first 15-20 feet.
You do need more power for 22" slicks though. Maybe try a cold start (no burnout), then a warm start. see if that helps.

the type-r is good up to 9 grand. Try and launch it somewhere up there. Its kinda hard to beleive that the car bogs. you must be racing the best track around...lol

Is it ACTUALLY bogging on the launch or the 1-2 shift? I think you said the launch but DAMN it shouldn't

Yep, it's just like when I launch the car is sling shot foward a few feet and then the revs start from 4000 rpm again. It doesn't spin period, it just shoots foward.

I had this problem when i was running a stock b16 and sc61 turbo on my car. Take everyone's suggestions: put maore air in the slicks, don't dump the clutch, try to slip it a little to keep the revs up. You are falling out of the car's powerband. Just keep at it, you will get it down with trial and error.

raise your revs up for launching and slip it real good on the clutch.

i launch my bfg radials at over 5000 rpms and plan on going around 7k when i get my slicks

I think it has something to do with your power. There no reason you could be bogging with little 22's and and type r transmission. What ecu are you running with the swap and have you messed with the fuel setting in the afc? Changing the vtec crossover wont do anything if the map isnt adjusted for it

after reading this thread.....

i need to know if its bogging in first gear, or when you shift to second?

if its bogging in first.... add tire pressure. or perhaps, smaller slicks.

if its bogging in second, let the tires spin in first, it'll still rev up to redline on your tach.... but if the tires are still spinning, let them spin until you feel them hook....

then it'll rocket back up to redline, that's when you'll want to shift to second.
