Default Avoiding rolling forward/backwards when staging

My first time at the track....I was pretty nervous. As soon as I'm staged...I got the rpms up to 4.5K and i started rolling. Do you guys do e-brake launches? Where as soon as ur staged...u hold the ebrake...and let go on launch? I have tried this yet but a friend recommended it.

that isthe best thing to do if you are front wheel drive as most of us are. Hold the e-brake right until before you drop the clutch. then you are off..... don't forget to let it down otherwise you will look like an *** as you do a burn out the first 60'ft.

WTF? What kind of ghetto track are you out that is not flat at the satging lane. There is a track here in MD called capitol, its the worse track in the world but the staging lane is flat

Yeah I been to Capitol it's just a good place to practice. Not very reliable times though. But sometimes when you are creeping at the line it also could be that your clutch isnt full disengaging. Are you rolling both foward and backwards?

Well..I'm rolling forward. It's cuz I stage...then feel like I don't have enough time to bring it up to the RPMs I want it at. The ebrake method will probably help alot though

i have had this problem many time at my shitty track. Many times i have staged shallow and red lighted because of this. I installed a line lock and 2 step which now helps with launching.

I use no brakes when staged.............

Just light both beams and brings revs to 7000+ rpm.

Launch when the last just starts to light up.

I think they're engaging the clutch slightly at the line, and that's why they're rolling.

Don't worry about being late if you're not ready and getting a shitty r/t, the r/t isn't included in the 1/4 mile time (and who cares who wins or loses on the track? It's all about timeslips anyway).

hahahaha why the heck are you rollin forward or backward in the first place? that has got to be a shitty track. youre not supposed to roll in any way. the track here at sac and sears point must have their **** straight because i usually stay in one place with no problem at all while i tach.

Exactly what I do. My clutch engages about an inch off the floor, and I do slip the clutch a little at the line

I just recently did this and I was the #2 qualifier. Needless to say, I basically gave away 100.00 dollars because of this.

i havent tried this with my n/a motor... but when i had gobs of power, i would just engage the rear brake with enough force to stop the wheels from rolling out. but not enough so they would be locked when i launch... then just before the 1-2 shift release the brake... never rolled out with this method and i dont think it ever affected my times.
