Just Another one of those Blown Motor posts... (TONS OF PICS!!)
Before I start off let me give some background information. I picked up a 2000 Hatch with a JDM GSR motor and NA just wasnt enough for me. After seeing my brothers boost 3 different motors wanted me to boost mine. I knew what would happen if my motor blew, just never really thought what i would do when it did happen. Bought a custom topmount turbo kit off of another HT member here. Took me about a year to finsh the rest of the turbo kit off and I was on my way to boosting my car!! Took my whole spring break to install the kit, right before a HT meet in Madison, WI (which was a blast). Now it was time to get her tuned after fixing a few exhaust leaks here and there. Took it to Beeyond Engineering and they tuned it for an amazing price!! I was suprised what it put down on only 6lbs. 265 hp and 196tq were the final numbers. Few weeks later I deceided to see how well it would do at the track. Busted out the Drag Radials to see if i could pull a 12sec pass. Best I could do was a 13.0 at 110mph with a 2.1 60ft
Now on to the good stuff... my brother bought a knockoff wastegate that really would hold boost for crap. So i thought hey, why not just try out my Tial wastegate to see if that helps. And so on, we installed it and i guess the Tial was still jumpy too for some reason? Anyways took if off of his car and i thought it was getting late so ill just put on my wastegate tomorrow morning. Threw on the wastegate and had to put the Vband flange back on so i could drive her again. Took it for a spin and everything seemed normal... until i got on it. Everything seemed fine the wheels started to spin throughout first gear, sput in second gear like mad.. no traction what so ever.. and right when third came... i looked in my rear view mirror and i see white smoke... and BAM!!! smoke started coming threw my vents... oh NOO i just blew my motor... I pulled it off to the side to see whats up. Pop my hood i see that radiator hose blew up... with coolant and oil all over my engine bay.. not good. While realizing i just blew my motor i looked in my engine bay and i DIDNT plug in the wastegate vac. line to the turbo!!!!
One vac. line... thats what did it..
Well I got it towed home and just started ripping everything apart. I was hoping it was just a headgasket that blew, but no.. its more serious than that. Here it was the moment of truth as i was pulling the head off too check out the block.. Cracked all 4 sleeves and damaged the head. Pictures will show enough about the sleeves. Now my question is, is the head still okay if i were to get it milled off? or is the damage too deep. I hope the pictures will help out.. RIP my first boost car...
(Sorry for it being so long, thought that it would be better to make it a little story instead.. lol)

What do you guys think? fixable?
EDIT: When it was all done.

i don't know how you can invest in a setup like that and not enable boost cut. Maybe payin a few extra $$$ for another tuner would of been worth it

I'm surprised the rods didn't go. I would have thought more carnage. Sorry for the bad luck though, I've been there also...

Better question is why the tuner didn't do ANYTHING to add in boost cut, be it a boost cut script, IGN retard, etc.
Maybe it was because...

SUcks that it blew, I can feel the price of gsr blocks going up as I type...

yeah lesson learned, didnt you think something was up when your car felt like it had alot more power aka more boost, damn man looks like the tops of your pistons werent too happy along with that sleeve. Good luck and i hope your not discouraged from boosted hondas
I thought my motor looked bad when a rod cap broke loose and shot up into a cylinder locking the entire motor.
That's awesome cracking all 4 sleeves. Just buy a bottom end B18c, fix your head, and get your block sleeved...and definitely get a boost cut for next time. Going back to NA after boost sucks.

I'd get that head cleaned real well and magnafluxed. Look closely at the material around the spark plug holes, on the intake valve side. I'd bet its cracked. At that point its cheaper to buy another head and put your valves in it(assuming its a semi stock head). Good luck .

Tune the motor for it
If it was tuned for 20psi by a damn good tuner it would have lasted longer then half a pull, i bet the ignition and fuel maps for 6psi look alot different then if they were for 20psi hehehe.
