Tracking a high mileage car
I can finally afford to get the car back out on the track since my first experience way back at expo 5, but it has quite a few more miles on it now, just shy of 100k. Im planning on doing an HPDE here at the end of July, but I want to make sure my car is up to the task before I take the plunge and pay the money. I want to make as sure as possible that nothing goes wrong on me.
What should I be looking at to make sure the engine is healthy? Anything else besides compression and leakdown numbers? The timing belt and pumps were changed at around 85k miles, so thats a non issue now. What else can I do to prep a higher mileage car for the track?

sounds like my car.... although i have a little more than 131k on mine....
i will be having the timing belt, wtr pump and all the necessary belts changed this week....
after that, i will track it as is.... and replace what needs to be as it rears its ugly head....
i have a feeling that it will be all the suspension bushings and or shocks first to go....

If everything is mechanically sound and you do proper p/m on the car you should have no problems.
Tracked the GSR with 144k @ Expo6. I had a problem with the tranny, but I knew that it's life was coming to an end anyway.
You going to MAM? I love that track.

Putnam Park, actually. Its relieving to hear some higher mileage cars are making it out to the track regularly. Im very **** about maintenance, so hopefully everything is well.
Ill be flushing out and replacing all the fluids before I go as well.
If theres anything else you can think of, let me know.

a friend of mine had 140k+ on his Type-R
he used to maintain it regularly, put a set of cut-slicks on and then give it a good shakedown on track
put the street tyres back on, and then carry on using it as a daily. never missed a beat
as long as they're maintained well they'll just keep on going

distributor cap and rotor... valve adjustment, timing belt is a crucial one if that hasn't been performed yet.
Spark plugs, fuel filter. Though they fall into "mods" category, engine mount inserts and shifter bushings are a good idea too.

That's a pretty good list. Make sure your brake pads are up to the task. The motor should be fine.

+1 more for valve adjustment.
I burned a valve at Expo 7
Looks like the previous owner had them adjusted too tight. That's what I get though for trusting someone else's work.
If you've had this car for awhile, then you probably know best what needs replacing and to be looked at. I would just take a notepad and pen out to the car and do a complete inspection over every square inch. Look at every part and think "hmm.. what could go wrong with this, and how can I plan for it". But that's good advice before tracking any car, not just yours.

Are you sure it wasn't another one of the 50 white Integras there lol. I was only out there for 2 sessions anyway

To get ready for the track this year, I inspected my R and did up a list. My car has 56,000 Miles on it now and I wanted it safe and sound for its debut on the circuit. Here's what it amounted to:
Timing belt
Water Pump
Brake fluid (Motul)
Brake pads (EBC Redstuff Ceramic)
Flush Coolant
Clutch fluid
Oil change (Mobil1 10W30)
Oil Filter (S2000 OEM Honda filter)
Tranny fluid (Redline MT90)
Tires - Falken Azenis RT615
AEM CAI
clutch + pressure plate (Exedy Stage 1 org)
flywheel (Exedy - 9lbs)
3rd gear
3+4 Synchro
2 new OEM driveshafts
input shaft bearing
5 mainshaft bearings + 2 seals
New USDM Recaro SRD's
Bride MO-Type rails
Skunk2 forged lugnuts
Compression test
I'm broke as **** now, but the car is MINT and performed beautifully on the track this past weekend through 6 sessions. Didn't burn a drop of oil.
Just make sure to:
1) Check your oil after each session and top up if needed.
2) Re-Torque your lugs after each session
Having your car in top shape before a lapping session is the key to you having a good day, so IMO you're doing the right thing by taking care of stuff now

A lot of good things have been mentioned (although I think some things mentioned are overkill).
One thing not yet mentioned are the cooling system hoses. If the original hoses are on a car that's 9-10+ year old, I would replace them, as good preventive maintenance. Do it when you flush the coolant.

my guess is that to some people, once the car is over 100K its considered high mileage and not as valuable and therefore can beat the **** out of it and not worry

Just seems that under 100k people are so worried about every single mile... i know i was. To me 105k miles is the same as 150k miles.
