Default 1998 Honda Civic EX VTEC A/C replacement done correctly?

I had my Honda at the mechanic earlier this week and he asked who had worked on my A/C last. Back in October 2004 I had the A/C compressor replaced and they also put in an in-line filter (not sure what that is for) that is connected on each side to a hose with hose clamps. Well, the mechanic told me that it was installed incorrectly, that high pressure clamps should have been used and that coolant has been seeping out. I am taking it back to the place where the A/C was put in today. Does this make sense and was the work done incorrectly? Also, what is the purpose of the filter? Thanks for any help/advise anyone can give me.

you spelled VTEC wrong. thought you should know. its a honda not a phone.
as for your problem i think your mechanic is correct. take it back and get a refund and take it to someone that knows what they are doing. such as a dealership.

Well, I took it to the place that replaced the a/c last night and they told me they always use hose clamps, that even a high pressure clamp could leak. He did see there was coolant dye on the hose so I'm taking it back to them on Saturday to take a look at it.
