H22A melted piston/cracked ring land
Hey Guys,
Just recently I had suffered a melted piston/cracked ring land on the number 3 cylinder in my H22A. It was obviously from detonation but Im trying to figure out what could have caused this since I dont want it to happen again. The car was running 94 octane gas and was on the track when it blew up so it was being beat on.
The mod list is as follows:
Stock JDM bottom end
Head milled 20 thou
Complete Ferrea Valvetrain inc 0.5mm oversized valves, dual springs, ti retainers, etc.
Skunk2 Pro1 Cams
AEM V2 Intake
Vibrant Header & cat
Tanabe Hyper Exhaust
Hondata S300 P30 ECU
It was tuned to a conservative 13.1 AFR and ran completely fine on the dyno. I am currently suspecting it was a fuel injector that went bad so I will be sending them in to be flow tested. The problem is that if you look at the pictures below you can see that all the cylinders were running lean on the intake side (notice how clean the piston is). I am wondering if my fuel pump is good enough to provide the flow that I need? Its the stock Accord pump.
Any suggestions would be great.
