I'm gonna stick with Morgan at Synapse Motorsport. He tuned my last set up (which i beat the hell out of) and he also tuned many of my friends cars.

why not take the opportunity you swap in a crank, rods, and pistons and make it a 1.8L and lower your compression?

because that's another $1000-1200 just for pistons, rods and crank. Also for the whp I'm going for why build it to a 1.8?

Well I'll oblige you and not give the usual "wtf would you not sell the ctr" reply. However, I will ask why in hell you'd run all that stuff, and keep the stock pistons and rods? I wish you luck on your 'high boost' adventure with cast high-CR pistons. Hopefully it will be like a long fairy tail where everything goes perfect, not like TNT salesman's nightmare, where your **** blows up in your face.

i say keep the ctr ..high compression+low boost+high rpm= lots of response on the street. and besides if you were to sell it for a single cam you dont have the possibility of going to a 2ltr built block unless you buy a b series again so it would be a waste of time...keep that set up it is pretty stout.

sounds like a decent setup, while you driving the boosted b16b you could source a gsr crank and afermarket rods and pistons for when the ring lands do fail within a year or so

boost it with a good tuner get a .82 gt28rs so less boost will make more power, make around 300whp and then have fun with it and leave it alone

what is the CR 10.5?

I would like to go built but why are the ringlands going to fail in a year??

Any small amount of detonation will pound those cast areas into small pieces causing misfires and bad leak down. I know from experience. My 10.2 B16A had its ringlands blown from a bad batch of gas. I never touched my boost controller after my tune session with Ed Senf.

I applaud you to do something different. I would suggest though to invest in aftermarket rods and pistons (maybe same CR as the CTR's) because you will need them eventually. At least the forged parts will last longer. Good luck.

Here's another question. Is the fact that I have a knock sensor going to help?? I know a lot of DSM guyys just tune by the knock sensor and a wideband or ECT gauge.

No the Honda knock sensor won't do anything.

that is the stupidest **** i have ever heard... im at 11.3 compression in my ITR motor with an sc-61 over a year and a half i beat on it everytime i take it out at 341whp at 10psi and plenty of track times no ringlands have failed on me.

yeah alot of those guys responding are just talking out of there ***. Yes highcompression and boost is walking on thin ice, but you can take precautions and do all you can. Yeah any cast piston wont take detonation abuse, higher compression is just gonna make detonation easier to occur. I say you look into water/methanol injection!

ya i guess i am just talking out my ***, i was stating about the ringlands with no reguard to compression... it will happen, unless your running really really low power your ringlands will eventually fail with stock pistons... it may last a year or it may last two which is why i told him to start collecting parts to build it into a bigger better motor down the road

i've been around long enough and had enough turbo honda's to know what the hell i am talking about

See the whole thing that gets me about what you say is how can you really put a time limit on them? 1 or two years with no regard to mileage or how I drive. With the way I am I highly doubt the car will be stock internals for very long. I just don't want it to blow up the first week I turbo+tune it.
