im thinking asbout putting a gsr into my ek coupe (00ex)

do i have to take my whole car apart to do this or can i use my existing wiring harness & get adapters? i cant really find what im looking for on the faqs or by searching

it's a 6th gen article in the third post, and above that post is the wiring info!!!!!

99-00 and 96-98 are practically the same when it comes to swaps, the only difference is the ecu plugs and pin locations, but that info is there too for both.

as far as mount stuff-
you'll need 99-00 si rear t-bracket, 99-00 si driver's side engine-side bracket, and if you want a/c, use a 1997 crv compressor bracket. you can use the gsr a/c tensioner and torque mount post.

you will need 94+ b-series dohc axles and intermediate shaft, plus a 94+ teg linkage.

if the engine is an obd2 jdm b18c, you don't have to worry about any ckf sensor stuff, vtec pressure sensor, or (if it's pre-98 obd2 JDM gsr) secondary o2.

jdm obd2? yes...but since you have a 99-00 car, the pre-98 jdm ecu won't work in your car, so really it's up to the ecu you end up using, not the engine at that point, if you can run a test pipe.

ckf sensor is crankshaft fluctuation sensor...us obdII had it, jdm obdII and all obd1 didn't have it.

i'd get an obd2 gsr from hmotors. well, i already did!

his **** is w/o a doubt the best, hands down. also, his customer service is impeccable.

i did alot of research before i bought my swap, and tho he is a little more expensive, trust me, please- he is the best place!

as far as years with the obd2, don't worry about it, it'll be a pre 98 AFAIK. i suggest the obd2 because it's newer, so less years it's been sitting in a yard on the island of japan.

negative, sorta. there is a piece in the key and ignition switch, but i believe it's in the ECU

3) If you want to use a US 00-01 integra ecu in your 99-00 civic, you need to have the Immobilizer removed from the integra ecu or else your civic will not start. Also, when using a US 00-01 Integra ecu w/removed IMMobilzer, the fuel pump pinout "A16" needs to be moved to over on slot to "A15", in order for your EK to start (fuel pump pin location differs between OBD2b civic & integras). You only need to perform this pin change if using an 00-01 US integra ecu's in a 99-00 civic. If you plan to use an Si coupe ECU, there is NO NEED to perform this pin swap because Si coupe ecu's do not have an IMMobilizer, nor does any 99-00 civic ecu, only 00-01 integra ecu's do. Don't forget that if you ever switch back from using a US 00-01 integra ecu to an Si coupe ecu, switch the A15 pin back to A16!!!

 

ah.. okay. well on my 00 vw gti vr6 it had an immolizer and it was a seperate unit all in it self.

 

So the question is still how do you remove the immobilizer?

locash, hondata, they all do it, but they charge a pretty penny to do it. locash charges like 150.

there is alot of info about it on pgmfi.org but it's VERY involved, esp to do it the 'right' way.

 

Can someone give me a general idea of how its done? Also, do you just call them and say "hey i need the immobilizer removed from my ECU"?

now that i look, hondata doesn't offer this service for anything except k-series stuff.

i'd like to give you a general idea of how it's done, but there is no definitive information publicly available. i sifted through all of pgmfi.org and found some attemtps where they simply removed the card, but it gave a permanent MIL People on there have tried all kinds of jumping and resistors after card removal, but i don't see a tried and true technique for US 00-01 ecu's. blundar, who basically is the 'man' on that site, seems to be asking the same question you are lol

if locash has figured it out, it seems they are keeping it closely held to maximize their profit potential from it.
