i lost the engine in my daily driver after 250,000 about time well it fits me well and i love the car so i am putting a new or used engine in it but i have ran in to alot of difficulty finding a d16y8 to put back in it and what i was wondering is if some one might no if they was every other engines that will fit in with out going through buying mounts and extensive wiring mods and maybe the same ecu (if it can be done)

Get an OBD2 B16A. That's a bolt in swap. As long as it's OBD2, it will all plug in as well. Those motors are sold with nessacary mounts, linkages axles, etc. They're all stock parts from a 99-00 Si in your case. Plus, you will effortlessly pass emissions. Good bang for the buck bolt in motor. under $2500 at this point for a FULL swap. Very reliable, great gas mileage, and fun to drive. Awesome trans ratio, same as the ITR. The other OBD2 B series will plug and bolt in as well, but you're usually looking to spend more money unless you get the LS motor. BOOORING.

The OBD2 96-00 D series motors will also bolt/plug in, However, the D16Y8 is a difficult motor to find. The OBD1 D series will bolt in, but will not pass emissions unless you put in your oil pump assembly with the CKP sensor from your D16Y8. You will have to switch injectors, and some plugs. switching the intake manifold would be a good idea. And you will probably want to keep your trans unless you get a D16Z6 with trans.
