Default D15. Turbo or swap it?

I have a 1997 Honda civic 2dr. with a D15 V-tec, i was wondering if i should swap for a B18B1 or turbo it, the engine has a decent amount of miles, my budget is about $2000

If you do a b18 swap youll still be left over for turbo which is good you can prob squeeze some good Hp outta that. I say swap for this one. D15s arent responsive to bolt ons as much as b18s

GSR, Type-R, RSX type-s type-r, corvette ls1 (need some modding for that though), B16...lots of motors can be swapped in.
but you'll need more than 2 grand for full swap

what do you want? do you want n/a? or do you want boost, you can still make that car a n/a d that makes 140whpish for about 5-600. or you could boost it for 1700ish tune included and make 180whp. that motor is a good motor dont waste it.

i wouldn't base your decision on how many cars you can beat on the street. As far as possible swaps, read the stickies in this section. IS your d15 in good condition? personally, i might just do the swap now, don't abuse the motor, and save for boost. The b18 has more potential on stock internals than the d15. Just don't think you're the fastest kid, whether you're boosted or not, on the street. No one likes a ricer reving their engine next to you.

i see a lot of b18b1 longblocks for sale in the marketplace for under500. i've seen some even in the 200 range. if u can install ur own motor, i'd go b18b1 turbo. i kno a lot of people out here who have gone b-series and turbo for under 2500. b18b1 vs my turbo d16y8 eg hatch will lose tho. ls motors have great torque but it's still nothing compared to boost and a great tune. if u can go ls boost.... i'd go that route. if not, i'd go sohc boost. and if u blow a block, u can probably find another one in the marketplace for 50 bucks. that's my .02

budget is 2k?

you could get a so-so swap (if you do the work yourself) and have reliable power.

thats what i'd do.

If I had 2k cash, i'd just swap an LS with a gsr/b16/itr tranny.

Then save for boost. That way, you'll have a fresh motor and some tq for fun daily driving.
