Default Is the 98 Accord LX Vtec or Ulev?

I am buying a 98 accord LX, but havnt seen the engine yet. Should it be Vtec? I am in CA so it may be Ulev?

I'm just curious to know if it is one of those two things, of if it is just the standard motor.

Vtec is just the type of engine. LEV, ULEV or SULEV is the emission rating honda gives them. Has more to do with the catalytic convertor of the exhaust system.

All 6th gen accords come vtec except the DX model. The LX you're looking at will have vtec

ulev= ultra low emissions vehicle. The ulevs will come with vtec as well with the exception of the dx again, the only drawback of ulev is that it has 2 less hp than the normal accords, not a big deal.
