Default Are the Ap2s really underpowered?

I know on s2ki some people think so some people dont. I never believed it until i got my 07 (traded in my ap1) My ap1 had a very strong motor, it was 250psi in every cylinder at 68k. However my ap2 feels like it has more power...maybe around 10-15hp at the wheels. I know some dynos on s2ki show people making insane numbers on church's dyno.

Any specualtion on what the real hp numbers are for the ap2s? Some are saying the 06s and 07s have more power than the 04 and 05s.....why would honda not give the actualy hp number?

Theirs probably a 5+/10- Margin of error on everymotor, if you know what that means.

+5/-5 hp sounds like a more usual margin of error. i would say the mean is 205 hp on a dynojet.

Not every Dyno is the same. I heard ppl make 10-15 more/less hp just by going to a different dyno

yup, and i hear dyno jets usually show more hp. and mustang dyno's show less. but more people like dynojets because of the exaggeration in numbers. i've heard of guys making 190 whp on an s2k with bolt ons on a mustang dyno.
<sorry to threadjack with my shameless plug>

i messed up the thread title

i meant did honda understate it's power

the ap2 from 04 and 05 are dynoing anywhere from 205-210 stock, the 06s and 07s are dynoing higher than that

That is true as well, but were they on the same day at the same dyno? A test should be done with an 00-01, 02-03, 04-05, and 06-07 back to back for comparison.

EDIT: My free roam in GDD still good? I'm whoring it up.

I do know people with a one of each model. Mildly modded I guess. It's SoCal, not too many stock examples out there, but I'll see what kind of results I can gather for comparison.

I had a 2002 S2000 before I picked up my 2006 with the new engine, and there is a definite increase in power and torque. Keep in mind that Honda changed to the new SAE ratings system and the AP2 was introduced using this scale. (Basically, if AP1's were tested by this more accurate scale, they would have scored approximately 10 fewer horses than their AP2 counterparts.)
Some may argue that 240 vs 237 thing all day, but I would rather have the 237 published for my AP2 than the 240 that were alledgly there for my AP1.

Maybe Honda realizes how much the average American auto enthusiast is obssessed with numbers in terms of performance.

If that was the case, wouldn't Honda overstate their numbers?

Are you serious? It's far better to have 10% drivetrain loss than 25%. Whether they over or under-state, the dyno will still come out with the same #'s. I'd like to see how many pissed off customers there will be if Honda claimed 280hp or something to that effect and they're putting out the same rwhp #'s as AP1's.

Just look at what happened to Yamaha and the new R6.

Ha ha, forgot about that.

But I'm pretty impressed with those cars handling wise. They tear up B-Stock. Too bad they're powered by a weak wankel.

Notice how a ton of horsepower and tq claims for cars dropped when the 07 specs came out? (maybe it was 06...but pretty sure it was 07)
That's because the rating system was changed, to a system which more accurately rates the vehicle's motor. The new ratings are pretty damn close to what the actual motor produces

no what im and some other people are getting at is that the 06 and 07 ap2 are dynoing at 210whp+ some even at 215 that would put the actual hp at 250-255, not 237
