Default Muffler Shop Exhaust

When I do get an exhaust I'm going to go to a muffler shop and get a 2.5" cat back but I'm not sure what the laws are on them seeing the test pipe. Will they not work on it or will they say "I can't let you leave wityhout a cat" or will they just disregard it? Obviously the seedier the place you go to the less they'll care but I don't want to have to put the cat back on and have them mate the exhaust up to it because it will just neck down to fit the cat.

Just put a heat-shield over it. http://www.testpipe.com sells test-pipes with the factory shield over it so you can't tell. I don't think alot of places care as long as they aren't touching it, then it's not their problem. I'd just figure out some kind of shield to put around it and just tell them it's "High-flow" heh...Personally, I'd just get a performance cat to avoid any problems, but that's just me.
