New A/C Compressor won't seal to hose!
EDIT: oh yeah, its a '93 Del Sol
Its #7 in the pic below. Where it meets the new compressor it is leaking, and won't pull a vacuum.

I looked at the old compressor, and I can see there is a small flange missing on the new compressor, and thats whats leaking.
SO... What can I do? The new compressor is over a year old (not opened until this week) so I can't take it back. I'd rather not have to wait to get more money to get new one seeing how I already spent two bills on this one!
I have the old compressor too, so can I take the guts out of the new one, and put it in the old one??
Or, can I take the rubber gasket that came with the compressor, cut it to fit, and pray it makes a seal?
I'd almost be tempted to put the old compressor in and try it. The noise it was making was the condenser fan had come loose, and was rattling agenst the cage its in. I'm afraid to, just in case it did crap out before, I don't wan't to go thru all this crap again, and have to then buy another $90 dryer (see previous post on that grief
)
So, has anyone taken apart a compressor, and put it back together? (I'm seriously thinking about tearing the old one apart tonight) ??
Makeshift Gasket?
Shoot it with a .45?
Thanks!
BTW, BOTH compressors are supposed to be 134a and I am using new gaskets.

Well, I tried to rig it with a rubber piece cut to fit the hole, but it just squished out the sides when I torqued it down.
As for the flange, I have a crappy cell phone cam. I may try to get a pic later, but It will probbly be too dark to tell anything.
On the old one, theres a little lip, then another bevel, as it goes into the compressor case. The new one only has the first lip, no second bevel to fit agenst the o-ring, its just a straight shot after the first little bevel.
maybe I can do it like this.
Old one New one
___ ____ _____ ________

Hope that helps.
But really, is there any reason why I cant take all the new parts, and put them in the old compressor? Everything else seems to be right, they just didn't machine it right I guess.
Damnit, it wont come out the way I want, but you can see where the \ / s are, the new one is missing a set.

Well, I cleaned off the old compressor, and am waiting for the carb cleaner to clear out of the garage before I take it apart.
I figure I can get it apart, I'm just worried about putting it back together with the other parts, but I really have no choice.
I hope putting the cap back on the dryer will save it for a few more days till I can get this fixed

Well, I've taken the old one mostly apart. Surprised that there was little dirt inside, so thats nice. The bearings are making noise, so I need to replace them.
Now, as far as I can see, I should be able to take the front end off the other compressor with the new clutch and pulley, get a new gasket for it, and pop it on!
I think I may take pics of it when I take it apart so those interested can see what they look like apart. But be warned, my cel phone cam isn't that great lol.
Thanks to the 2 that answered! When I post pics, I'll start a new thread.
