just wondering if anyone knows how to hook up a shift light, not a whole new tach just a shift light. i dont see the need for an 8 inch tach but i'd like a shift light for when i go to the track, anyone know whats involved in doing it?

red wire=power
green wire=rpm

 

for the mentally challenged like myself what is the best power and rpm source for the shiftlight?

 

the power source and ground can be tapped behind the cluster. The power can be tapped off of the dimmer switch since it's a 12v ignition source. As for the rpm you can tap that either at the distributor or behind the cluster on the stock tach. I think the dizzy is more accurate though. That's where I did mine

 

my power is in my fuse box. my ground is on some metal on my door and the green wire goes to the blue wire coming out of the dizzy. GL
