Transmission/Fluid
Here is my situation: My CV boot in the front passenger tire was cracked, so to resolve that the axle was replaced. The mechanic must of not put the axle properly in the transmission, so my car kept popping out of 5th gear. Today I opened up the filler bolt and replaced 1 quart of redline MTL (same product as the fluid in the transmission) but I do not feel the fluid level at the filler bolt.
So is the fluid level suppose to be a the filler bolt or are we suppose to put only 2.1 US Quarts??
Thanks a lot
VP
The fluid should be at the filler bolt. Fill it until it starts to spill out and throw the plug back in. I don't think the popping out of gear is because of an improperly installed axle. If the axle wasn't installed right it would be popping out of the differential, not the trans. popping out of gear. If the fluid level was off and you had some driveability issues he/she probably didn't top off the trans. or put in the right amount of fluid after installing the axle.
