ATTN TroubleShooting Guru's:::: Motor Wont Start!
I just put in a obd2 ls swap into my ej1. Everything is connected and ready to go... but the motor is not starting.
OBD1 ej1 chassis
OBD2 b18b ls motor swap
OBD1 b18b ecu
OBD1 wire harness converted for obd2 setup (dizzy plug and injector clips)
What is happening:
--> it is cranking
--> fuel pump primes
--> motor grounded
--> Spark is there ( i removed wires and touched engine to visually see spark)
--> Injectors are firing (i removed fuel rail to visually see spray)
--> put in new gas
--> new fpr
--> new map sensor
--> new dizzy cap
--> new spark plugs gapped to .32
--> ngk spark plug wires (firing order correct)
--> used timing gun to correct dizzy timing to stock Red line on crank pulley.
--> compression tested (150 across)
what ISNT happening:
--> will not run!!!!!
I crank the motor over, it'll spin spin spin spin and then it tries to fire... but it is almost like it is missfiring horribly. Sounds like a harley davidson running for about two secs.
I can sometimes get it run "idle" but it's obviously still miss firing on some cylinders cause it's "blub blub blub blub" sounding.
If i get it to idle like stated above, ANY change in throttle position, the motor will bog horribly and die or just bog and come back to horrible idle.
What else can i try to troubleshoot??/????
any help will be greatly appriciated
here's a picture of the Cam Gears when Crank pulley is lined up with White TDC mark.

and here's a video of it "kinda running" ANY throttle change, and the motor bogs to ****.

NEW UPDATE:
--> i've switched out fuel injectors with KNOWN operational ones.. didnt change a thing.
--> I can remove both map and tps sensor clips while it's idleing and it's not changing or effecting it in any way.???? bad ecu????
--> I used timing gun to triple check electrical timing, the timing mark falls right in between the red line on the crank pulley.
--> Double checked dizzy wiring conversion. the colors all checked out!
--> DAMNIT!! WHATS WRONGGGGGGG

Sounds like you have the firing order wrong.. double double check. I've done it before when I was doing a swap with a GSR and followed B16 firing order and of course it ran like "blub blub blub blub".
thanks for the tip.
i just triple checked the firing order tho.. it's still perfect.
any other hints/suggestions??/?

yea.. i know it sounds like firing order.. but i've triple checked.
about the cam timing... I pulled the valve cover and checked to see if both cam gears were pointing "up" at the same time... i'll recheck to make sure it was at the crank pullies TDC mark when they are pointing up. I dont htink the physical timing is off tho, because this was just a used motor from japan.. no reason for timing to be changed from last time running.
I did have to wire in the new dizzy clip for obd2 to obd1 converion for the harness.... would that have thrown off the firing order by any chance?
another thing i need to know is.. i removed a "resistor" box setup from the dead-end clip area. I had to install one before in my earlier setup because of a turbo setup + 450cc dsm injectors..... I just removed and reconnected the yellow/black wires (which hold power) in a random order. Im pretty sure it doesnt matter cause as long as they all recieve power... but would it mattter if i switched them up?
the only CEL im getting is #10 which is IAT and that wouldnt really matter in regards to motor not starting.
could horrible valve clearances make it not run?
should i try obd2 ecu?
I also removed the black cylinder that is located right of the battery... should i reinstall? i didnt think that really served any purpose other then just emissions control.

have you tried both a civic and integra firing order though? remember. b16/gsr are different. I dont know what it is for b18b though.

I had a similar problem , turned out to be the #1 and #2 injector plugs were crossed. 1=brown 2=red 3=blue 4=yellow (all injectors have a yellow and black wire also)
thanks for the suggestion/.// but just checked those wires and they are on in the correct order.
I tried a new ecu today.. same results.
it has to be some kind of timing issue.... Would i loose timing belt cause this kind of probelm?
i hate this

thats what i thought when i swapped my buddies eg hatch with a obd2 gsr. tried to save money and use the obd2 dizzy and made a adapter harness. car would start if i sprayed gas into the intake constantly and run shitty. like a bad missfire. tried my obd1 dizzy and car started right up up and ran fine. thought i messed up the harness so i went over it repeatedly and it was 100%.
