Default d16 transmision question

Ok here is my thing I got a crx in that crx is a d16y7 engine and I had to get a new tranny. I got 2 d16 trannys one cable and one hyrdolic I think the hyrdolic one is a d16z6) anyway none of those trannys fit on. I was told that you can use like any d16 tranny. Why wont this damn thing bolt on my friend told me I have to order a clutch disk this here http://www.clutchcityonline.co...shtml

Is that true and then it can go on? I dont know what to do (I thought hondas were suppose to be the easy cars to fix and work on lol) so far I lost money buying 2 transmisions damn I need to get this thing fixed Im tired of taking the damn taxi to work and askin for rides. This car I becoming my supras best friend siting in the garage man someone throw me a freakin bone here aka HELP!!!

all 88-91 cable D-series transmissions will bolt to the engine itself - the odd-ball in the mix is the 88 transmission - if you have a clutch for 89-91 then the 88 transmission input shaft won't fit into the 89-91 clutch disc - you would need 89-91 transmission or a different clutch disc - if you have a clutch for 88, then the 89-91 transmissions won't fit and you would need 88 transmission or different clutch disc

I have a 89 rex I think the trans well one is the d16z6 and the other is a cable something I dont know I would have to look at it and post what it is. But one is cable and the other is hydro. I dont want to use the hydro. So what do you think I should do?
I have 2 trannys siting at my boys house.

count the number of splines on the input shaft of the cable transmission - if it has 21, it is 88 and won't fit the 89-91 clutch - if it has 20, it will work with your clutch and should bolt right on (that is assuming the engine has 89-91 clutch on it)

Ok I counted and it has a 21 spline so that means its an 88 the 2 other trans that I have are 20 spline. One the trannys have 2 rings. So what should I do should I just get a 88 trans or is there something else I can do thats cheaper? BTW thanks for the help its like people look at the post but no answers given jlicx FTMFW

if you have 88 transmission and the engine has 89 clutch on it, you need 88 CRX/Civic Si clutch disc - if the engine has a 90-91 clutch on it, you need 86-89 Accord clutch disc to use the 88 transmission
