Decisions : Type R?
So.....ill be leaving to the air force on sept. 18 and will b in training till november 2nd.. Then following going to mississppi till the end of January. Now.... I have a nice B13. But its not exactly what i want. I spent money and its definetly not a bad car, some may say its up there w/ some of the cleanest on the west coast. Buuuuuttt.. Im tired of it. I need something a little newer, sportier looking and wont give me AS MUCH headaches as this one. Ive been wanting to sell it for a while now but everytime i try and go threw with it, someone on the streets either compliments it or loses to it. Cough...cough type R/rsx/ swapped hatches...lol...Then i want to keep it.. I love Sentras buuuut i think i need a break for now and then will come back to an even better one....So now.
My problem. Ive always been a honda guy, i bought a 90' integra back in highschool and though it was my dream car.........then right before i was going to buy my first mod (skunk2 coilovers ) i rode in my friends sr20de-t se-r...then i sold the integra that month and bought what i have today, ever since then i felt like i skipped a gen. of tuning that i felt i should have always been doin,so i figure might as well start w/ the best.. And at this age im looking for a CLEAN SMOOTH ALL MOTOR DAILY car that is low maintenence and is 98-02 for around 12-18000. Which is a Type R. Bolt on type R's can do high 13's to low 14's and they stay daily..im not worried about theft i got it covered...but my heart is set on one even though my fellow nissan guys are against mainly cause ive beat so many type rs....but oh well.
Should i keep the se-r/leave it home and just save up for a couple months and make a down payment on a Type R/keep it stock and make the se-r a race car? Or..sell the se-r.. use that money towards the type R/maybe mod it a little and w/ the money i make/save just buy a new b13 and start over in a year or two?.... Or just save....and make the se-r a complete monster car w all the money going to it? sorry for the long thread but i have been contiplating this for while and need some guidance from people other than older "POINT A TO POINT B CAR PEOPLE" (mom, aunt, grandma, dad, boss etc.) ..so any advice would be good... Im leaning towards option B and heres my baby boy id be selling....
Any advice wuold be nice....Such as pros and cons of having a type R in ANY aspect.

i know most of the FACTS about ITR"s (ive been on this forum but never post for about a year now ) and such but id just like general opinions and beginners advice from you guys (R owners) about the situation..
Never, ever underestimate the theft factor, ESPECIALLY if you desire to use it as a daily driver. Kill switches, stealth paging alarm install, backup battery power source, GPS tracking device are merely a start to keeping heR secure.
Besides the theft problem, ITRs are a great DD- reliable, fuel efficient, fun.
I wouldn't worry about 1/4 mile times, they weren't designed for straight lines

That makes no sense at all even if it’s your "$.02". ITR's were made for drag racing /circuit racing what ever you want to call it purposes(hence the R). That’s why they were made with a high compression motor and more stable chassis/suspension. The caR was made for the track along with DD use.
Don't mean to sound like a expletive; but it kind of hurts seeing a car not being used for what it was made for.
Remember Integra Type R

WTF? He didn't say anything about "circuit racing." He said street racing and drag racing, both of which the R would definately be wasted on, IMO.

i appreciate the input...and no i wont be racing my ITR at all.....it will be strictly Daily Driven BUT i do want a car that can keep its own whether it b at a track day or on the street when the srt/bmw/etc. pulls up and wont leave me alone....I drive slow 90 % of the time and am not an aggressive driver by any means and i literally...no lie...honest to god....wash my car everyother day and clean the rims every morining...so maintaining a type R is no problem to me...and i do agree....cars that are made for competitive reasons are made to be driven...hense why mine would be daily'd ...
If you can manage to daily drive a car without the stress of putting miles on the car, getting rock chips, dents etc then you will love the car to death. I am now getting beyond the whole paranoid stage to where I can fully enjoy it.

I don't think an R would be a good car for you, especially where you live.
And what you said doesn't make much sense, "cars that are made for competitve reasons are mad to be driven...hense why mine would be daily'd ..."???

Get a GSR. Or an RSX-S instead.
Get a GSR. Or an RSX-S instead.
sorry but an ls,rs, or gsr are not an option...to tell ya the truth they are just waaay to slow and my se-r runs circles around most of them.....and im not to fond of the RSX body styling...so i guess id be getting an R. And i will be daily driving it.
You said a DD WITHOUT headaches... the R, in Fresno, CA. is not that car. And good luck with the Mugen spoiler thing, it's a life long hunt, don't get your hopes up unless you have $1500 cash to by one.
You keep saying how your whatever you have runs circles around ****, sounds ******* retarded...

first off: an ls,gs or gsr are to slow and dont have what i'd like as far as performance to rival a Type R.
second off: there are many type R's here in fresno that haven't been tampered w/ due to anti theft equipped owners that for the price can help me out with the theft rate IF i was living in Fresno.
third off: chances are i won't be stationed in Fresno Ca seeing how im in the air force..wherever im located is where i'd be purchasing an R and dailying it.
fourth off: i have a mugen spoiler lined up to buy. and the only reason im not buying it is cause im not sure if ill have an R soon or not.

bah.... your 19, you have no clue what you will be getting yourself into especially in fresno.
go buy your damn type r, then come back and tell us the sad story of how it got stolen. we love sob stories post theft especially when we've given the owner solid info at trying to protect it
you obviously arent taking this seriously as true owners of rare cars do. why? because you do not know what you have until its stolen.
i vote get your damn R enjoy it and daily drive it. and you will soon find out how stupid this decision was during your particular life.
:i unlike the others know you cant convince a 19 year old to do the smart thing. they only learn the hardway:
you will make exceptions with the car and that will get the car stolen.
