If theres nothing else wrong with the motor (aftermarket wise) go to the ref and get it signed off, then you have proof to fight it.

I'd say go to Court and plead not guilty, 90% of the time they wont show up. When you got to the ref they will have you smog it and I doubt you car is competely stock.

No, bring the carb sticker with you to court along with a picture of your intake.

It needing to be in a box is mythical.

i was planning to research and find an article saying that all you need is a carb # on your intake for it to be legal and take pix of my car with the intake on

if you got the ref sticker, you must go. if you pass that will be your poof to fight against the cop. if you can make it to the ref, then you must pay for the ticket

Doesn't even matter if the cop shows up ... they can testify by affidavit now. They just have to fax in testimony.

a cop tried to do me like that. I went right to the police staion that he worked at and filed a complaint with the watch commander. showed him the ticket and had him look at my engine. all of a sunddend the cop showed up with a pissed look on his face. The watch commander dissmised the ticket right there. Two days later I had a lowering ticket by the same cop. He did not say shyt but gave me the ticket.

Thats pretty shitty. Cop was just pissed off at you for being right. He just wanted to hand out some tickets to some "punk kids in rice rockets."

Anyways, to the OP, AEM intakes are 50 state legal INCLUDING CALIFORNIA. So as long as this is the case, you should be fine. Now about your y8 swap...you will not pass the ref without that finished and working properly.

alright guys i fought my ticket...it was $279 for headlamps and smog pollution...and $187 if i had proof of correction....i got the head lamps signed off and took my ticket to court...explained everything to the judge...he looked clueless...so he said the best he can do is reduce my ticket to $50 dollars so hell yea i took that offer....its better than taking my car to state ref and having to smog my car (i dont think it would pass)....im thinking about taking off that aem intake though because its for a gsr and if they run the carb #s....im in deep shiet..

^^ It doesnt matter if the intake is for a GSR, AEM intakes are 50 state legal. It doesnt matter what car they're on.

Nah, the CARB #s are car specific. Even if the parts will easily fit into a different car, and give a legal amount of smog emissions on that car, they will therefor be illegal in that car by technicality. I had an AEM intake from a 99 SI on my 95 DX, and had to go to court for it.

Whats tha matter with running your vin numbers? I think that is a great idea. Keeps people honest and thieves broke.

damn that sucks...
a while ago here in mn the cops busted some street racers...me my dad and my uncle was there...there were around 14 cars that night...about 7 domestic cars...then the cops showed up and every one of the import cars got a ticket while all the domestic cars got a warning...how unfair was that!
