guys i am a honda enthusiast...and been a jdm fan forever...i used to work for honda R and D in the design department.....designing cars for them......and acura.......i digress......

if you guys have any knowledge you can fill me in let me know....i am eager to hear about the 96 most things start for the 97 body style....it is a b18c.....everything is beautiful with very low mileage......but why the four lug...should i keep it that way......owner said he never drove the car too scared......fill me in i am a sponge

Keep the car as is. Dont go changing your lugs. It has no performance to your car at all so why do it? Keep it original/stock as possible. Refer to the 97 ITR with 17k miles for sale as an example of what happens when you "mod" an itr.

i agree.......i did searches for the differances between this car and others and came up with very little info on the 96's.....other than bumper differances.....in the rear and tail light...but who cares i buy jdm for a reason.....not looking to mod at the moment...just sit and drooling at the moment

96-97 JDM Spec = 4 x 114.3
98+ JDM Spec = 5 x 114.3
All USDM = 5 x 114.3

Does anyone of have confirmation on this? Would that mean that the motors in 98's were done by hand as well, since the heads are stamped 97?

I remember that was mentioned in the Best Motoring Type R Legend video. I don't know when the exact changeover occurred.

Go to the DMV first and ask them what is needed, it's different in different states...

Probably should have researched this prior to purchasing, but yes each state is very different.

wish i can help you. I didn't wanna go through that process so i bought one already registered/titled.

When I registered mine to my name, I just took the title to the register place and had the name transfered. They looked at the title, looked up the info from the title to the computers, info matched. They were a lil confused, so they looked at the car and the vin number of the car and it matched the title. I paid the fees and got my tag. Couple months later, my title came in.

I dunno how to do the process so. Try getting the title first, then bring it in and try registering it.

btw. I didn't have to worry about emission test either. (lives in mississippi)

Isn't the 5-lug setup better for bigger brakes?

I removed the OP's post limit...I think we can make an exception for a former Honda employee who bought a complete JDM R.

i guess it would depend on what the OP is planning to do with his new car. he could always go the way of dual piston legend calipers and 11.1" prelude vtec 4x114.3 rotors. also, there's a recent thread regarding s2000/mugen calipers with 11.8" rsx-s rotors this is if the OP wants BIGGER brakes.
