Default HELP wiring up a OBD1 GSR into a DPFI OBD0 89 EF

OK, the story is this. I have a OBD1 95 GSR in a 89 OBD0 DPFI EF. I already have the engine in the car and everything else is done except the wiring. I bought a 95 Civic Vtec Engine Harness and all the sensor are hooked up except the on engine harness to the main harness on the passenger side of the car and the one round harness on the driver side. I'm trying to cut the OBD1 engine harness and connecting to my OLD obd0 harness so it would be a plug in type. has anyone ever done this before? do i just match up all the wires? I know not all the wires are the same colors... Any help would be great.

BTW: i'm using the OBD1 dist. and 4 wires O2 and OBD1 injector so no need for the resistor box.

Thanks

good luck and if you can come up with a good diagram for the OBD1 Shock tower harnesses, I'll paypal you $5

how is the ecu plugged in if you only have the engine harness?

since the ecu uses plugs on the cars interior cabin harness, what your trying to do becomes a nightmare really fast, unless your using an obd0 ecu, which you didnt specify.

the reason the shock tower main plugs dont line up on either side is that you have way too many wires on the engine harness side.

to accomplish this in the way you seem to want it, you will need the 95 gsr helms manual, and the 89 ef helms as well, and just go wire for wire.

the thing is, youll be way short on the car side, and have to run quite a few wires through the firewall anyway, so its up to you to decide how much work you're really saving yourself.

if you have an obd1 ecu that youd like to use, the smartest thing you could do is pick up a jumper harness from someone like rywire, and perform a MPFI swap to your DX harness, and any extra wires will be labeled for you.

then its simply a matter of using the plugs off your EX engine harness for each of the extra things the DPFI harness doesnt have, like the extra injectors, vtec solenoid.

but to do it all by hand im sure is possible, but you have to be damn sure of each of the wires, which would require a helms for each car.

I just picked up a OBD0-OBD1 jumper harness...

OK I know I have to convert my chassis harness to MPFI (which I did already)

I know I have to run extra wires for the OBD1 ECU, which I can do. just going to take a little time.

Now the question is HOW do I wire the OBD1 engine harness to the OBD0 chassis harness. I got some of them wires already, going wire for wire. I'm about half way done (i guess), should I continue OR should I dump the OBD1 harness and get a MPFI OBD0 harness and wire for vtec?

I'm giving myself more work than I need huh?

there's no reliable info here on h-t on how to wire an obd1 engine harness to your obd0 chassis harness.

keep your stock engine harness, and source the plugs you need from the obd1 engine harness.....

it'll be way easier.

^^What he said... either add what you need to your ODBO harness or call Rywire.

you should have everything on your OBD1 harness you need.. you can even split it open, depin at the connectors on either side of the engine bay and slip the wiring and plugs for your new/different sensors etc into your old harness (have to split it open too)

as much as I love working on wiring and **** like that.. I couldn't justify the time I would spend working on it, so I just sent my stuff to Rywire.. I got it back within 3 or 4 days.. I just did the DPFI OBD0 to b16 OBD1

well all of yous saying nothing but negative about rewiring the OBD0 to OBD1, but I finished rewiring today... the wires seem to be more than it is and seem harder than it is.. but if you have obd0 ecu wiring diagram AND OBD1 ecu wiring diagram, its not that bad. and YES at first I thought I would be in mess but just go one by one and soon enough you'll be surprise that you're done.. thats what happen to me... its all wired up, and if you don't know the alternator wiring is on the drive side on OBD0 car and one obd1 car, its on the passenger side.. if you don't see the wires on one side, look at the other side. you'll see it.. anyways the wiring is all done, My back hurts so much from bending over and wiring. I tried starting with no luck. it didn't even crank. so i gotta check the starter wiring.

its little tricky, but it CAN be done. and it looks messy but once you're done, you can clean up the wiring with elec. tape and wire loom. yes I know it would of been alot easier with a right harness but I couldn't find any around where i live so.. I made do with what I have..

can't wait till it runs..
