hey guys I am looking to setup a miller 200 TIG at my house but i am told that the power supply in most homes is not up to par. anyone have any information on what i would need to do to make it work. Is it something in the fuse box or do i need to run better lines to the house ect, any info would be helpfull. thanks

If you have no electrical background I wouldnt attempt to try to run the lines and install a 220amp outlet yourself. You basically need to install a 50amp breaker (or bigger) in your fusebox. Run the appropriate size lines which will depend on the distance and a outlet for the wire to run to.

the amount of work really depends on where you want the plug and where your breaker box is. if you have the breaker outside your house and you want to run it to your garage, it could end up being a lot of work. depending on how old your house is, you might not have a main breaker that can handle that amperage, and even worse, you might not have big enough wires running to your main breaker. if that's the case, you might have to have a new breaker box put in that goes directly from the feed from the power company, to the location where you want the welder, which would require the power to be shut off to your home. not too sure how to go about doin all that, but I would talk to an electrician, they would know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it the right way, you don't want to overload wires and other things and cause a fire. basically, look at your breaker box or meter box, and if that main breaker is less than your required amperage, you're probably going to spend beauceau bux getting it done the right way.
