are you sure the starter is plug up'ed..........lol..... you left yourself open for that one. First thing that would help would be make and model of the car. Have you tested the wires to make sure its getting power? Did you use a harness? info bro
Have you tested to see if you have power on the HUs constant power, [yellow] and acc. power, [red].
To troubleshoot electrical problems you will need a multimeter, or at the very least a 12V test light.
If you do not have, or can't borrow, a meter or test light you should go to Radio Shack and buy one, $20 will get you a DVM that will do the job and a 101 other things on your car, it will pay for itself in no time.
If none of the above is an option then use the cars dash lights as a test light, [worlds most expensive test light] using a jumper wire connected to the red and yellow leads, [one at a time] touch the other end of jumper lead to the red/black, [orange on harness adapter] illumination lead in the OEM radio harness, if the dash lights come on you have power on the lead your testing, if not, you have no power and a fuse is blown or you have miswired something.
On the other hand, [you have power on both the red and yellow] and you have checked the HUs fuse, and it's good, you have a defective HU, take it back where you got it and have it exchanged.
