Default EX tranny on Dx

i can get a ex tranny about 80 k miles or so no problems for 75 bucks. my question is will i see a improvement with my performance with this ex bolted up to my d15b7? also is it a direct bolt on? or do i need to mess with wiring? also do i keep my stock clutch kit or do i need a different one for that tranny? thanks

if you can pick it up for $75, do it.
it should bolt right up, with your current clutch
you will just rev faster.
ex tranny is only good if you plan to mod your engine

Do it, you can keep your stock clutch kit.

$75 is a good price if the trans is in good condition, it's 100% bolt-up and will provide better acceleration without completely raping your highway gas mileage. It's the shortest USDM trans that I know of during the 5th generation civic time frame.

1st, 4th, and 5th are the same, the only difference is the B7 has a 1.762 which is slightly longer than the Z6's 1.9, it also has a slightly longer 3rd sporting a 1.172 where the EX has a 1.25.

Most importantly though, the final drive, the B7 has a 4.058 where the Z6/EX has a 4.25.

You'll be faster in each gear because of the fiinal drive, but you'll especially notice the difference in 2nd and third. Best of all, you're only at 3400 RPM doing 80mph on the highway where with the B7 trans you're doing SLIGHTLY better doing 3250 @ 80mph.

EX trans, definitely, jump on that ****, GREAT improvement for a B7 IMO, that and a mini-me swap are HUGE bang for buck w/ B7s. If the trans is in good condition - for 75 bucks? Buy that ****, slap it in, ownage .

Usually look for shaft play, oxidation.

You should be able to turn the shaft - I think.

Sorry, I don't know trannies .

I seen the same add he never responed seem shady.

On the performance side I install a EX/Si tranny on my stock DX motor and made a world of difference. With that I was able to beat my friends 2004 Civic Si he had i/h/e. But $75 idk if its in good as condition as it seems

Your friend should be shot for sucking at driving.
