Holy crap Battman
Ok, I know you guys are wondering "what's so special about this '96 spec JDM ITR?" How about this: HKS 2835R turbo and w/g, IC, OC, and PowerFC. and the staring bid price is 1000000jpy($8k). That is dog but cheap!! I gotta stop cruising the japanese auction pages!
Those are Enkei's.
Might as well show this one too! $20k will close the auction, 240ps fully built Spoon motor, Spoon gearset, Cusco LSD, Spoon (Showa) coilovers, Spoon calipers and too many other Spoon/Mugen parts to list.

import over?
I inquired about importing a Honda over from Japan which was dirt cheap and basically, I was told that you (as a consumer) cannot buy a car outright from Japan. A certified broker must provide this service for you as they are responsible for bringing the car up to US emissions, crash test, and misc specs.
Basically customs does not trust the average Joe to pick the car up at the port and do the work himself. They will only turn it over to a broker who is required to do this work.
If anybody knows something different about this process, I am all ears. A few months ago, my plan was pretty much shot down with two phone calls and I didn't persue much further, so there is a possibility that some of the info. I received is poo poo.
As far as brokers go, I know there is a company that imports Skylines to the US. These brokers are forced(from what I understand) to detune the engines, and make them legal by US standards. The costs to "detune" these cars is outrageous. It costs nearly 25,000 to detune the Skyline. So, after all is said and done, you are no longer getting that "cheap" JDM car because of all the costs involved to detune the car and make it legal for US standards. So you may think you are getting an ILL JDM car for a cheap price, but when all is said and done, you are paying mucho dinero up the wazzzzzuuuu.
There was a real JDM CTR at the EXPO....so it can't e that hard.
And you are always free to go to japan, disassemble the car, and have someone ship it to you as a kit. Then when you get it to the us and reassemble, you can register it as a kit car....since thats what the sales invoice and shipping docs say it is....
People do this all the time with cars that are not importable by normal means to the SU....
Cheese~

vadeR... If you are using W2K all you have to do is edit language encoding. Japanese text input/reading can be downloaded from microsoft if you are using w98 or NT.
Jordo.. The HKS Kyushu 2835R and 3037 kits cost about $4k and this does not include any fuel management.
