90 Civic + 89 Integra LS = ?
Hang in here with me, I need some information, just keep in mind that I will have NO extra money except from the sale of my car. I went to a local car lot yesterday because I saw a Civic on thier back lot, beside it sat an Integra. The Civic is a 1990 hatch, the Integra is a 1989 LS hatch. Civic has a 4 speed manual tranny and whatever engine comes in it. The Integra has the DOHC engine with a busted automatic tranny. Civic has no air, no radio, clean body, busted windshield, rough interior, 214K miles and runs. The Integra has pretty good front seats, A/C, no radio, OK body, doesn't run. If I took ONLY these 2 complete cars, could I drop the DOHC into the Civic with the Civic's 4 speed (later upgrade to 5 speed). Basically, what are my options? I'd be selling my '91 Accord Ex 4 door auto and would probably just have enough money to cover the purchase of the Civic and Integra. Thanks for any advice, information, or whatever.

hmm..is that LS motor the B18a? if it is, then the civic tranny..D series..will NOT bolt up to the teg motor. sounds like a bum deal to me anyways...did you check out hondacrx's shell for sale up in maryland/NOVA? 1100 for an 89 si and a sohc ZC and you can save up for a b series. just an idea
The 89 Integra engine will not bolt in to the 4th gen civic. The engine mounts are totally different. You could probably weld in new mounts, but it's not worth butchering the hatch just to put in an 118hp engine. If you like the hatch, get it and start scouring the junkyards for an MPFI manifold, throttlebody, wiring harness, ecu, and throttle cable. That will take some wiring changes, but it's the best upgrade you can do to the standard civic. For the price of the integra, you could make that civic much better than if you tried to swap engines.
Some say it works, some say it don't. Pretty sure I can get the Civic and the Integra both for under $3000, leaving just enough money for title transfer and odds and ends, but if the teg engine won't fit, I'll scrap the whole idea. Anybody else got an answer?

The teg engine will not fit. Not only will the mounts not line up the tranny wouldn't bolt up either. The teg is actually a D16A1 not a D16A9. The D16A9 is the european version of the ZC. HF2ZC is right just pick up the STD hatch and do the MPFI swap. You will probably even have enough money left over to get and Si tranny.
I like wonghands idea. skip the integra(although you could probably pull the power steering rack off of it and put it in the civic). Get the civic, and look for fuel injection and a si ecu and tranny.
