Default 88 CRX Si w/89 SOHC ZC

I am having motor mount problems and I noticed on the side transmission mount bracket, the person that did the swap cut out the bracket and installed a nut/bolt on the mount only. Any reason why he didn't just fasten the mount to the bracket using the stud on the mount and a bolt on the other hole with the nut on the bolt from under the bracket and a nut on the stud?

The nut on the stud came off and the motor dropped about 2". I was planning on just replacing the mount bracket and fastening the mount onto the bracket, the entire assembly on to the motor and using a jack with a 2x4 under the tranny to lift it back up and fasten the bolt through the mount onto the frame. During disassembly, I noticed the square hole cut out on one side of the mount bracket.

Was it because I only read and never post...

Was it because I didn't ask right...

Was it because nobody knows...

you were asking why someone did something - the only one that could answer that is the guy that did it

picky, picky, picky

Is the left side tranny mounting bracket exactly the same on a D16A6 as on the SOHC ZC? Do all the mounting holes align exactly the same on both motors? Is the left side tranny mount the same?

I would post pics but I only have the SOHC ZC. I will have the D16A6 parts later today but my question will be answered once I have them in hand.

The "why would somebody do this" question wasn't a philosophical introduction into a discussion of the mental framework or psychological motivation or intention of the "guy that did it" but only an implied interogatory as to the mechanical necessity of modification of a clearly stamped metallic bracket that an engineer had intended to utilize as a structural brace that now had significant structural rigidity issues as well as questionable application based on fitness for use criteria such as securely afixing an engine in the engine compartment.

Thank you for you input, anyway. Should I run across the "guy that did it", I will approach him in a way that elicits the answer as you are suggesting the question was asked and we can have both the answer from the pure mechanical perspective that allows me to ascertain replacement of parts to cinch down the motor and the philosophical question as to his mental state and perspective as he chiseled away to get everything to fit.

Thanks again.

You never asked that question to begin with, Your entire post was purly observational and random, and idiocy at its best.

You never once mentioned "are all the parts the same between this setup and an A6 setup"

HENCE THE REMARKS YOU RECIEVED........

Your answer to your LAST and FIRST question is:

"Yes, the mounts between the two different motor and transmission setups are the same"

And you can ******* quote me smartass.

i was going to ask which is the mount on the left side of the transmission, since the transmission is on the right hand side of the car - i believe that would make the left side of the transmission at the engine, but maybe that question is best left unasked

I concur, BUT the left side is the right side cause the right side is the wrong side.

Right?

It is if you ride horses anyway......

Exactly...what THEY said.

Thank you for all the input. It was very informative but I still don't know why HE ground out the hole that would fasten the mount to the bracket unless the mount for a SOHC ZC is different than the D16A6. I think I asked about the bracket being the same and not the mount.

I especially want to thank you for teaching me how to post correctly in a manner that provides sufficient detail without pics to allow you to answer my question. You are the greatest!

Actually, I am really glad you asked ( ) because I, too, was confused because the on-line manual I found referred to it that way and a repair manual on CD I bought says the same fricking thing. I then rationalized it was the Japanese model and everything is on the other side. I suppose that doesn't apply to the motor though unless they are so used to everything being the opposite that they get confused on left and right.

I'll have to tell you my story of driving in Japan...later.

The mount and the bracket are identical......and as far as why the dumbfuck did what he did........GO ASK HIM.......NO ONE HERE WILL BE ABLE TO TELL YOU WHY.
