Default harness bar question

Hey guys, I bought a eh2 shell that has had some track time, and included was a harness bar. I've heard people attaching harnesses to something like this, but then I've heard other people telling them that it was a stupid idea because it wasn't safe for some reason.

Anyway, I'm just using seatbelts at the moment, but the harness bar connects at the b-pillar's seatbelt attaching points. Is that the proper place, and is that ok to attach a harness to?

better safe than sorry

Usually the harness bar is welded onto or part of the rollcage, it's not really safe by any means to have harnesses and no rollcage.

if your harnes ties in to low then it can compress your spine if you wreck

Because of its connections being mounted lower, it will actually pull downward on your shoulders if you were to crash

do you need a harness bar if you have decent seats like recaro srd's... I have some recaro srd's and the harness slots are a god 4-5 inches aboove my shoulders... so do I still need a harness bar even though it would compress the seat instead of my spine? I know a roll cage is the best option but can i run harnes straight to the floor through my seats (essntialy making the seats the harnes bar...

sorry i dont mean to hijack your thread i jus thought it tied in...

Thanx in advance...

No you should not, even with the racing seat the force is going to pull down and compress your spine.
