well ive got a set of 16x7 rims and need some new tires, these avs es 100s dont have traction for ****.
anyhow, whats a good tire that will be relatively decent for dry traction, maybe in a 205.40/16 or so size?? i was thinking azenis because i cant find the bfg drag radials in 16" sizes

Yes, definitely get the Falken Azenis RT-615 in 205/40-16 for your '96 or earlier Civic hatch. On dry pavement, they're the stickiest street tire you can buy.
(NOT the T1-R, which isn't a whole lot better than the ES100 - bad recommendation there.)

Not so fast. The RE-01R from Bridgerock is stickier. They come in 205/45ZR16.

What evidence do you have to back up this statement?
What evidence do you have to back up this statement?
The fact that all cars in STS and STS2 switched to the bridgestones and were running faster than those who stayed with the azenis this past weekend at the SCCA Peru National Tour.
Look at the results.

Regardless of whether they're stickier, they don't come in the 205/40-16 size he needs for his older Civic. So it's a bad recommendation.

Or so...not exactly. You can run the 45s on an EH, no big deal. The 205/40 isn't an optimal diameter either.

Its not a bad recommendation. Good day.

It is if you care about the accuracy of your odometer, if you don't want to lose acceleration, etc. All the usual downsides of using tires that are way too big.
Oh, and the hatch (as mentioned in the title) is an EG, not an EH, according to his sig.

Sure it is - it's within 1 percent of stock, unlike the oversized 205/45:
175/70-13: 22.66 inches (stock)
205/40-16: 22.46 inches (-0.8 percent)
205/45-16: 23.26 inches (+2.7 percent)

Yes it is. The guy asked for tires that would fit his car. You gave him one that's WAY too big. If you're going to give advice, make sure it's appropriate to the person who was asking. Yours wasn't.
