Default plastic repair

anybody here ever had any experience welding plastic? how hard is it?? my bike fell over on the stand in my buddys driveway and a big chunk broke off my front fairing. like 4"X4" right next to my headlight. I'm in the market for a complete new set anyways, but i want to repair this one until that time comes because it looks pretty damn ugly. I cant post a pic because im out of town, but it looks like it would be pretty easy to repair.

I used a soldering iron, laid a small bit of fiberglass on the backside for extra support, added little bit of filler, sanded and primed
