So I just bought a 1990 Civic EX and its a fun car. It does need some work, and this is one of the first things I would like to get fixed. The door stop (the bar that keeps your door from flying open) ripped off of the body on the drivers side door. Is this a common thing for Civic's? I have a picture of it, but cant figure out how to attach it.

 

my crx was like this when i bought it. i flattened the metal back out welded it back in, ground the welds smooth and painted it. works great.

i did the same thing

 

Did either of you ad a re-enforcing plate or did you just weld up the original metal?

I just welded it to the original metal but i dont see a reason why you couldnt reinforce it.

it happened to me a few years back and it just welded it back on and it still holds up today
