CRX Electrical Problem, Need help. I've researched, cant find anything. Please help.
Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I am having a weird electrical problem with my car. My work is about 10 miles away from my house. I am able to get halfway to my work and the car dies. I have to pull the car over, wait a minute or so, and the car will start up again. The car will act up 1 more time before I can get to work.
Something like 2 min after it died. When the car dies, It is just the engine, the whole electrical system is up, all my gauges light up, but the rpm needle is dead..... I am able to crank the car over, but it wont fire. After waiting a minute or so it will fire up.
I've researched on the web some problems relating to a no start condition and have ruled out, Main Relay, Ignition switch, Battery, Grounds (have all been re-done) I have a 91 Si With a ZC Turbo, MSD SCI Ignition with Blaster SS coil. The MSD system has 3000 miles on it. My fuel pressure gauge indicates I have full fuel pressure while trying to start the car, so I think the car is getting fuel.
I can also let the car idle for like 15 minutes and the car will just die. Same thing, have to wait the minute before trying to start it.
I have no idea what it could be, can you guys offer any suggestions on where I can start?
Thanks,
Chris

i second this and will lean more towards ignitor than coil as well.
my suggestion ideally would be a whole new dizzy off a donor car for a test drive.

Thanks for the suggestions. I doubt it is the coil aswell, like I said before, it is pretty new. Only 3000 miles on it... It seems as though something is getting hot and cooling down. It will only work after it has cooled down. After the car dies, I put my hand on the MSD box and coil, and they do not seem to be hot at all.... How does the ignitor work? and how would it be getting hot and cooling down??
