B16a swap Touble PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
i just bought a 91 crx with a b16a swap, the motor was boggin real bad and back firing when it was started, i bought a new pr3 ecu and now it will stay running and it doesnt bog down as much and it only back fires when i am giving it gas, i let it run for about 3 minutes and i started here a clicking noise under the valve cover, i t has aftermarket cams and adjustable cam gears on it. i am really trying to get it on the road a.s.a.p., if anyone has any input that will help me that would be great thatnk you. i live in Socal (rancho), if there is anyone local that would come and check it out that would be great. thanx

i know somthing is wrong with the valve train or the cams because of the clicking noise, should i just get a new head and swap it, i dont really know to much about messing with the valve train. would this make the motor bog when i am giving it gas, and back fire. please lmk what you can come up with thanx

I had a CRX with a 1st gen b16 swap and it did the same thing. My problem was a bad map sensor. You might want to try this first,I think that most civic/crx sensors are universal.

Your problem is too broad to narrow down with the little info you are giving. the ticking you are hearing may not be bad at all, some Vtec heads just make noise even after a valve adjustment. I think it's usually the lost motion assy. I just rebuilt my head and the everything is perfect but it stickk ticks from time to time, no biggie.
Don't just assume you need a new head cause of ticking, you could just have the firing order wrong (though not likely). is your CEL coming on? does it work? you could just have old gas in there, gas will start going bad pretty quickly if left sitting around for a while, I think after like 30 days it starts going bad if left alone. I have seen this too much to even believe, you need to let an experinced tech look at it (a Honda tech would be best) and you might be suprised how easy of a fix it could be. there really are alot of things it could be

i just moved to cali from michigan and i needed a car i was looking on auto trader, found this crx with a b16a swaped in it, i talked the kid down to $1200. when i first got it it was running rough as hell back firing when it was just in idle, i looked at the ecu to see if it waas thoughing a code and the light just stayed red, 2 people said that the ecu was fried so i got a new one, i put it in and it still didnt though a code and the red light stayed on. but the car stop back firing and would stay running. now when i am slowly giving it gas it just cuts out and comes back and will keep doing that. After it is running for about 2 minutes its starts the ticking and its pretty loud, i looked at the timeing w/0ut taking the overdrive pulley off and the cam gears lined up right i looked at the crankshaft with a flash light ad i am pretty sure it was also right (i know i shoudnt assume, i just didnt want to take everythng apart). the fuel pump is working. i jumped the power wire to a key hot fuse and i disconnected the fuel line from the fuel rail and it is getting fuel. that is everything i have done and that i know and hear to the best of my knowledge. if you have any input you can offer on the little info i have pease let me know
