Default KYB vs. Tokico

KYB AGX or Tokico Illumina. What would you go with. I am getting ground controls. leaning toward illumina but AGX seems to be good shock to get. not sure the pros and cons of each

thanks

I would recommend Koni Red @ $70 ea. unless you really think you need to adjust the dampening. The thing that's important when buying an aftermarket shock/strut for a lowered vehicle is finding a LOW PRESSURE GAS shock.
I can't tell you how many people i know that've gotten Koni Adjustables and gone all the way to the stiffest settings, then end up putting them right back to the lowest setting. The low pressure trait allows the shock to work well in a partially compressed (lowered) state.

If you are shopping cheap adjustable though, the AGX at about $90 ea. would be a much better choice over the Tokicos quality wise IMO.

Tokicos. better handling... proven. KYB AGXs are good shocks too.

In my experience the Illuminas handle very poorly in extremely low circumstances.. i.e. 2" or less. I've seen shock failure before 3 months in more than 4 cars. I don't however have any hands-on experience with them on setups higher than 2" so they just might be descent shocks.

from every post about Tokico shocks.. you been one of the few who had nothin but bad things to say. try em out first before you put out so much hard slander on em man. ive had tokico gas shocks on my dumped legend before with intrax springs. it was an awesome ride. had em for 2 years before i sold it. my friend has tokico illuminas on his super dumped civic and it handles and rides like a muthafucka. i havent heard any bad things at all about them.

With Illuminas you get what you pay for... and they are expensive. The AGX's are a great shock, especially for the $$. I went with them because they were a good price AND adjustable.
