Default broken speedometer

my speedometer recently stopped working and i can't figure out why. i replaced the speed sensor, which may have been a faulty part, the fuse i thought was the right one, and the speedometer unit itself and still nothing. is there any other part in the car that may be causing it to not read? and is there a place i could get the speed sensor checked out?

VSS (vehicle speed sensor) sensor could be bad or wet.

If its not that I think I have a old speedometer laying around. I needed the tach off it so its just laying around. I may have thrown it away though. Check the VSS first though.

Alright its kind of hard to explain. Im going to see if I can find a picture for you. If not search on here for VSS or Vehicle speed sensor. You might find a pic before me.

Here is kind of a pic. You have to imagine the arrow goes down behind the motor. The Sensor is sitting vertical I believe and alot of times water gets caught in the intop.

Ok here is a couple pics from the service man. Its not th best but since your new at this it will help you get to know some stuff in your engine bay. This will get you in the right area and know what to look for

ek forever guy is making this game to easy Its down on your tranny and will be looking straight up at you. If its wet just take a dry rag and dry her off. Take the plug off make sure its all dry.

If you take a look at your tranny, there's a sensor held on by 3 bolts, it's got 3 wires coming out of it. It's the ONLY sensor on your tranny.

That's the VSS.

so i believe i found the speed sensor but it looks to be dry. it may just be a bad part, but in the event that it isn't, what else could it be? does anybody know what fuse location would control that? i don't have the fuse panel diagram in front of me. i've seen one before but i couldn't determine what fuse i was looking for.

if it's not the sensor, the fuse, or the speeometer itself, what else could it be that's preventing it from working?

Many times the VSS connector builds up with gunk/coolant/whatever flows down the side of your bellhousing and corrodes the connectors away, normally the BLK/YEL wire in there turns green and falls apart to the touch.

Reverse backup switch.

The ALT/SP SENSOR fuse in the fuse panel in under the dash could be blown, but then the battery light on the dash wouldn't work

If it is not the VSS, and not the SLT/Speed Sensor fuse, and not the cluster, that would mean i am looking at a wiring problem, correct?
