What's the idle Air/Fuel ratio supposed to be on a B16?
Reposting this in here because I didn't get any answers in the 92-00 forum.
Title is self explanatory. Reason I'm asking is because I'm running a B16 that's built for boost on a stock ECU, stock injectors with stock everything hooked to it WITHOUT the turbo. This is a temporary thing until I can get things situated with buying a standalone, finding a tuner and a dyno.
I had the fuel pressure set at 38 psi at idle, which made it run at a 14.7:1 AF ratio at idle. This would dip down to the mid 11's with full throttle. It seemed to run a bit rough, and was also only getting about 15 mpg. So I'm guessing that a stock motor runs a hell of a lot leaner than that.
So now I adjusted the fuel pressure down to 30-31 psi which lets it run between 16.8-17.1:1 AFR at idle. When giving it full throttle it only dips down to 14.5 or so. Seems to be fine to me. It's also running a hell of a lot better. The butt dyno says it's got more power.
So yeah, anyway.
What's the A/F ration on a naturally aspirated and stock B16 supposed to be?
What is it at full throttle?

See, that's the weird thing. At the stock 38 psi setting and 14.7 with the vacuum line attached, the thing would run pig rich (pulled the plugs out and they had tons of black soot on them after only driving the car for maybe 100 miles total with them in) it would idle just a hint on the rough side and when going full throttle the AFR would go down into the mid to low 11's. Hell, one time I think my AF meter actually showed RICH.
Meh, I guess I'll just park this damn thing for the time being and drive my beater around.
Hey Chris, feel like coming out to Hawaii to do some tuning?

wouldn't mind if there was enough cars...
if u running stock ecu with stock injectors and a built for built for boost engine its normal that the original tune is off... hell any tune will be off u need a tune for that engine precisely... since not all engines are alike and no 2 tunes are EXACTLY the same. A makeup tune for you to drive the car will be able to do just that... drive the car satisfactory till u can tune it.
