Accord swap no start
My friend semi-recently bought a '92 or '93 Accord with a bad engine. He swapped out the engine for one he had laying around. He ended up selling the car a few weeks ago and the engine he put it is toast (chewed up and spit out a rod out the front of the block). So today we put in a new engine from the junkyard and have run into a snag. It's getting fuel, but it doesn't seem to be getting much spark. We tried the old spark plug against metal trick, to see if it sparked and it barely sparked once (1 tiny spark the entire time he turned it over). The old engines had distributors with an external coil, but the new one was an internal coiled one (didn't come with distributor but doesn't have the mounting points for the coil). The external coiled distributor also only connects with 1 bolt; 1 doesn't match up at all, and the other hole would need to be dremeled out a little to fit. After searching around online, I didn't find much info on it. In fact the only thing I found was a pic in this thread: http://www.accordinglydone.com...t=311
The first pic in the thread is what I'm refering to. The holes are in completely different places, positioning the distributor differently. I'm assuming this could very well cause a timing issue. I'm curious if anyone has any advice or thoughts on this. Everything else seems to be plugged it, and the grounds are in the same place they were when the toasted engine was taken out. Any help is greatly appreciated.
