you can cut your hood with a hacksaw blade held in your hand, go diggin in friends cars for quarters and get a hacksaw blade, and notch it out.

borrow a dremel from a neighbor.

pray to the gods for something sharp...

do it right or don't do it at all.

Just go to the hardware store you need 6mmx1.0 bolts If you use 1" spacers get bolts 1" longer than stock I know its ghetto, but I have it done for functionality, My supercharger lives behind the motor and gets uber hot. with the hood gangsta leaned and propped up 1" in the back it drops blower temps 10 degrees!

Had to raise mine to clear the valve cover vents.

I used custom aluminum spacers, thought about wselling them as sets....but never made it past that first thought.

lol...you sound like an idiot.

I had to do this even AFTER cutting out the "webbing" on the underside of my CF hood.

I have my hood raised in the rear about a half inch...not as extreeme as some ive seen. I went to Home Depot and bought some nylon spacers in the hardware dept. Works like a charm.

k. theres two bolts on each side of the hood. if you only put washers on the bolt closest to the windsheild on each side it should work because the bolt is longer. but i dont know how much you can raise it like this without having to buy new bolts.

actually get them same 10mm bolts but fairly long ones remove the hood thingy hing i cant spell it then buy skateboard bushing the DOh-DOhs work best what ever color u prefer lol and use them gives the hood flex with the wind and doesnt damage the hood hinged thingy i cant spell. gives u about an inch of lift looks decent not too crazy.

you know damn well you should have an sir style hood on that thing instead of propping it.

wonderful car none the less, x100000 times nicer then mine. no hate here, just a genuine feeling that a cars lines shouldn't be sacrificed because a hood doesn't clear an engine.

some people rather not ruin there hoods or have expensive cf hoods hacked up. its sometimes easier to just get spacers and it doesnt even look bad at all. and yeah your right a sir style hood would help some but for the budget guy spacers help.

hack what?

have you ever seen a fiber images hood?

whoops, no underwebbing.

all im saying is, if you CAN trim your stock hood to make things work, you should always try to do that first.

even if lets say you trim the webbing, and it still doesnt clear, now you dont have to ghetto fabulous with as many washers.

im just not into corner cutting, but if your option is:

1) prop the hood

or

2) not have a running car

obviously you do what you have to do and thats it. but the OP seemed to be saying he has no tool to even trim the hood with and thats why hes buying washers, which is why i said what i said.

its totally an opinion, and its a free country the man can do whatever he wants its his car.

Understandable. You are 100% correct, it is only a preference after all.

Look, I totally understand if its not enough to trim and you have to make desperate moves.

What I don't agree with is everyone says "hack" in this therad, but you can do a really nice job with it. If you goon hand your ****, then whats even the point of worrying so much how it looks because thats obviously a reflection of how you've worked elsewhere on your car.

It seems to conflict a bit for me when someones like "I don't want to trim something people will never see, so i'll permanently change how the front of my car looks to compensate for this."

??????

So essentially 85-90% of the people who look at the car, meaning not honda guys, will think you rear ended someone at low speed and didnt get it fixed yet.

I am just being devils advocate and not trying to start arguments, I just felt the opposing viewpoint should have its fair say.

Despite its apparent unpopularity.

And yes, I am aware that guys do it to keep their temps down, but I have my own opinion about ducting fresh air into the engine bay to compensate for that as well, which also has got me yelled at before.

All in all, when the day is done, people do what they like, and thats how it should be. I have no qualms with that, but that won't stop me from trying.

My engine actually rubs on the top panel of the hood, not the webbing.. Ive been meaning to prop it but never had a chance, my timing belt cover is wearing away the metal, one day it will make its own hole lol.

its fine if it serves a purpose, but if you don't need it why destroy the body lines?
i guess some people do it for show? my buddy raised his hood for no apparent reason and bragged about it as if it was something "cool". he had a sohc zc in btw lol
