96-97 TAIL LIGHTS LINE UP WITH 94-95 QUARTER????? 97 CONVERSION
HI, I HAVE A QUESTION..... IM DOING A 96/97 CONVERSION ON MY 94/95. FOR THE REAR END NEED TO KNOW SOMETHING BEFORE I BUY MY TRUNK. I AM CONFIDENT THE BUMPER AND THE TRUNK WILL FIT ON(WITH MODIFICATIONS TO THE HINGES AND POSIBLY THE WEATHER STRIPPING) BUT IM NOT SURE ABOUT THE TAILLIGHTS. I KNOW 96/7 TAILS WONT GO ON A 94/5, (BUT THATS WITH THE 94/5 TRUNK) SINCE IM DOING THE TRUNK AND BUMPER ALSO , WILL IT WORK THEN? ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS IF 97 TAILS WILL LINE UP WITH THE 94 QUARTER PANEL. MAYBE IF SOME ONE HAS A 94/5 OR A 96/7 AND OPPISATE TAILS (94/5 CAR, 96/7 TAILS OR 96/7 CAR 94/5 TAILS) CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME, THANKS!!!
ALSO IF YOU HAVE EXTRA TAIL LIGHTS AND CAN TRY FOR ME TO SEE IF IT WORKS, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IT BOLT IT IN AND KEEP THE TRUNK OPEN BECAUSE I KNOW IT WONT LINE UP WITH OPPISATE TRUNKS, ALL IT HAS TO DO IS LINE UP WITH THE QUARTER PANEL ,,THANKs
PLEASE REPLY OR IM ME (aim: yyyeaaabbboiiii) thanks

A long time ago, i had cleared this up for another HT member.
The answer is NO!
The quarter panels may look similar, but they are different. Rear bumpers are also different, and so is the trunk lid measurements.
To make everything flush properly, like a 94/95... you would need a new trunk, bumper and the set of tail lights.
Such customizing... not worth unless you are really wanting to get that done.

if you want to prove everyone wrong and you know what you're doing, why are you asking for help?... do it.. then see if it works. trial & error
hey, gaininline. you seem like the only one that can actually give me details instead of saying just "NO"..... well heres the deal. a tree fell on my car and fucked up the trunk and the window. i have a 97 bumper just laying around... and i found a 96/7 trunk for $20.... and tail lights ill just buy thats no problem as i was gunna get custom ones if i keep it 94/5.... so i actually basicly have the whole 97 rear except tails... so are you saying itll all line up with the 97 bumper, bumper mounting brace, tails, trunk, and modified (or 97 if they bolt on) hinges? please let me know, thanks
The way the 1/4 panels end by the tail lights, doesn't flush properly when you switch trunks.
And so, the tail lights when swapped, will not flush with the trunk. As far as the bumper, it's how it will be positioned by the trunk lid and tail lights.
I know it must suck for you.... but you would have to get the right parts matching your year model. Where do you live? Try going to a junkyard and taking the parts yourselft to save some money.
