Default b20B (JDM) rod bearings.....

does anyone know if the b20 rod bearings will handle the force of the vtec redline? from what i understand , if you over rev 7,000 you are at risk for a rod bearing to go out.......anyone know the status on this?? if soo I might change my mind going B20 vtec because i dont want to build the bottom end......

You are correct, stock B20's were designed for a 6800 RPM redline.

then just start looking for a GSR shortblock.

for every person that tells you its going to let go, 2 or 3 will chimie in about their buddy who had one that revved to 8500 all day on a stock bottom end.

the question is, raymond k. hessle, do you want to roll the dice?

couldn't put it better... some last some break right at the first trip to 8500... but in the end they will all go the same route...

This is so confusing. Everybody swears by by Honda OE. Rumor is that all the top NASCAR teams run Honda bearings. Those who don't wind up on the DNF list.

I also heard that Jeff Gordon got a crate of Spark Racing B20 Pistons, RMF tri-y header, CBoggs Millport head and RM M25x cams and now makes over 950whp on an otherwise stock motor and conservitave road course tune. Tranny also has Honda MTF.

Yup. at .0015 clearance, too. I think they run .0017 on the middle journals. But thats just for people "in the know"

ok......soooo if they all use the same bearings.....and the GSR and ITR have higher redlines naturally the LS bearings would be able to handle the LS/vtec conversion without replacing the bearings correct? im so confused.....??
