Default 4 bolt type r OR 5 bolt type R into 1996 Honda Civic Hatchback (CX Canadian)????

Hi Guys,

Sorta new to this.. I want to upgrade my braking system.... I know a couple guys that have a complete 5 bolt conversion... and a 4bolt conversion from a JDM type R... the 4 bolt is MUCH cheaper.... I would like to know the difference between the two...

what should I get?... Do I need to make modifications?

All the help is appreciated!

The 5 lug has larger diameter brakes. The 4 lug will give you better wheel selection in 15'' sizes. You dont really need to mod anything. You need Si E-brake cables. You can make ITR/GSR cables fit, though. I did. The spindles and trailing arms just bolt right on.

I had a 5 lug on my ek and i looooved it. I got it for $300 with wheels lol. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by MDM &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">4 luggy aint type r homie....

WRONG! 97ITRs came with a 4x114.3.

95-97 is JDM ITR 4 lug
97-01 is JDM/USDM ITR 5 lug
98up JDM ITR have bigger axles

Go with the 5 lug.

also, if you're buying an JDM ITR setup, you will need JDM ITR axles. It's best to buy either a USDM ITR setup or a CTR set up. They have the same sized brakes but use the smaller U.S. D/B series axles. Im talking 5 lug.

If you put an ITR set up on your EK, you WILL NEED AN ALIGNMENT!!
If you put a CTR set up on your EG/DC you WILL NEED AN ALIGNMENT!!

Thanks guys!

I heard the 4 bolt ITR also comes with 11" rotors...

For now I am leaving the stock motor in the car, later on I might swap a motor

Over here the 4 bolt is $500 cheaper than the 5 bolt... is it worth the $500 bucks???

95-97 is JDM ITR 4 lug and is 4x114 bolt pattern so stock 4x100 obviously wont work and you will need to get new wheels.

98-01 is JDM/USDM ITR 5 lug 5x114 bolt pattern same and usdm type r wheels, you need new wheels aswell.

98up JDM ITR have bigger axles. which are 36mm different from usdm type r. but if you can get jdm ek9 5 lug you can use usdm type r axles which are 32mm

if your going to go 5 lug either get ek9 5 lug setup or a usdm type r setup. just make sure you get 32mm and not 36mm because it will be a bitch finding 36mm brand new.

and how do you know if your getting 32mm or 36mm? what ever the axle bolt measurement is, is the size of the axle. its one or the other.

good luck.

and disregard MDM comments. LOL :how about you just delete your post?:
